Fornasetti Architettura Negetivo candle
The first time I discovered Fornasetti was in Sketch, a restaurant/venue I absolutely adore. If you aren’t familiar with Sketch, it’s time to get googling. Everything about this place is perfect, the decor, the food, the drinks, the service…. For crying out loud, even the toilets are Insta-famous! Each room is decorated to perfection, all beautiful in their own special way and scattered around the building is Fornacetti candles and believe me, Sketch always smells incredible!
One Saturday morning, I was sat in Sketch having brunch when I realised just a few feet away from me there was a big Fornacetti Pillar candle burning. If I said ‘OMG! That candle smells amazing’ once, I must have said it about 50 times. A few weeks later I spotted the candles in Selfridges and of course I went over to check out the designs and prices. Eventually my boyfriend took the hint and bought me one. Then one day I was instagramming it and I chipped the lid slightly. I’m pretty clumsy and I break a lot of stuff, but I rarely start crying over it. There right, I cried because I chipped a tiny bit of porcelain off the lid. Not even the main part of the candle, it was the lid. My boyfriend swiftly bought my another candle (I know, right!) because he saw how much it meant to me. That’s the thing about Fornacetti, it’s SO special; it’s the cream of the crop, it’s worth crying over. I’m not going to pretend I was hormonal or having a bad day, I was just so upset to have damaged such a beautiful item.
Fornasetti Architettura Negetivo Candle
My latest addition to my Fornacetti collection is this stunning Architettura Negetivo candle. The candle is made of vegetable wax and it is heavily scented with wood and herbal notes which have a rich, dark, decadent feel. The fragrance contains top notes of Thyme and Lavender. Middle notes of Orris and Cedarwood. As well as a rich, heavy base of Tolu Balsam, Incense, Birch, Styrax and Labdanum. The fragrance was created by master perfumer Olivier Polge and even though he has created some of the world most loved fragrances, I think Architettura Negetivo has to be one of my personal favourites. It’s wonderfully dark, rich and mysterious. It has the feel of an enchanted woodland in a fairy tale, rich florals, earthy notes, herbs, woods and incense. It’s truly magical and with a 60 hour burn time, this bad boy lasts well. Also, once the candle has been burnt, the ceramic vessel can be used as decoration, storage, or even as coffee cup. I’m a huge fan of Fornacetti home wears and the candles are so good, they are worth shedding tears over!
