Models Own Make-up Collection
Models Own are famed for their hyper-colour-super-fun take on nail polish. Their attitude towards colour is go hard or go home and if they can put some glitter into the mix, they will! Whilst they are known for their nail products, mainly polishes, pens, wraps and decals, they have also been know to dabble in the odd make-up product over the years. I first discovered their lipliners in a goody bag at The Clothes Show about 3 or 4 years ago and I was really impressed with them (although I have no idea were they were available outside of The Clothes Show). Then about a year ago I was sent a package of lipsticks and lip glosses. These were also really good with a nice selection of colours at great price points. These launches were only tiny, what’s coming now, is much bigger, better and brighter… That’s right! Models Own are launching their First Full Make-up Collection!
Models Own tend to keep their packaging on the basic side as the product inside tends to be pretty great. Their quality is actually pretty incredible, many of the hipster nail art girls swear by them and I’m just as happy using Models Own as I am using a premium polish as I know the colours are great and chip-wise, they can withstand zips, washing up and general wear and tear for a good few days.
So, let’s talk about the Models Own make-up collection! As you might expect, the colours are fun; pops of bright colours and no shade is off-limits. It’s a really fun and exciting collection! The eyeshadow palette makes me feel like a child again, remember the play ‘make-up’ to go with your Girls World? The ‘palette’ was filled with colours brighter than the sun for you to put on the plastic doll? This palette reminds me of that, only you can wear it! I love the colours and the price is amazing. Colour-wise, the lip paints are one of my favourite things in the collection, the metallic purple (shade Fusion 06) is amazing, but my personal favourite shade is the red (shade Wild 08), it has a rich pigment and a beautiful glossy finish which makes my lips look damn good. It also has a slight tingling effect, so I’m thinking it plumps my lips up very slightly too (thank you!). As for the metallic blue eyeliner, that’s also super fun and pop-y, I might not wear it every day, but for that price, I don’t need to. The Rock ‘n’ Rosy Blusher Stick is perfect for handbags and on-the-go, there is no need for a brush, just apply it onto your face and blend with your fingers. It’s tiny, portable and a great item for day time top-ups. The bronzer is good, it doesn’t blow my mind, but it’ works well, great value and very wearable. I’m also into the brow pencil, at one end, there is has a skinny stick which you can use to fill in gaps and give more depth and colour. On the other end, there is a sponge style applicator which gives a general colour boost and definition. Again, it’s great for a handbag, it has a nice colour to it and it’s super easy to use.
My favourite thing about this collection is all the colours, the eyeshadow palette is brilliant as are the lip paints are so much fun. However, the more ‘every day’ items; brow duo, bronzer, highlighter and blusher are also great, really good basics at a great price. It’s not the most beautiful packaging in the world, but the formulas and colours are where they have put their efforts, and that’s all that really matters. Think of it as an extension of the nail varnishes, you might be drawn to the bright colours and amazing glitters, but when all is said and done, the nude pink and classic red still do a great job and last just as long as a polish which retails for double or triple the money. Whilst I’m totally drawn to the colours in the collection, I really want to stress that for the money, this Models Own make-up collection works super well, delivers great every day items which are easy to use and wearable.
Welcome to the world Models Own Make-up Collection, I think we are going to be good friends!
