I love Coney Island! It’s so beautiful and filled with vintage charm, it’s probably my favourite thing in the whole of New York! Everything you could possibly want is here; Pancakes, fairground rides, candy floss, the beach, side shows, rollercoasters, arcade machines and a whole heap of colour and Americana! It’s just a short ride from Manhattan and gives you a well-deserved rest away from the shopping, sight-seeing and craziness of the city.

Circus Sideshow & Mermaid Parade

Back in the day New Yorkers flocked here on day trips and holidays, much like Londoners visited Margate and Southend-on-sea. These days, Coney Island is still loved for it’s old-school fun and excitement, as well as it’s World Famous Mermaid Parade, hotdog-eating-competitions, Circus Sideshow and Burlesque at the Beach. Speaking of the Circus Sideshow, it was in-front of the building that most of these photos were taken. I’m mega tempted to go back to Coney Island to go see the show. I’m even more tempted to book flights to New York for June when the mermaid parade is on…. that’s the dream!

What I wore…

I left my chic Celine Sunglasses at the hotel today and instead wore my super cool Hayley Elsaesser Slime Time sunnies. I felt like they were made for Coney Island and I think part of me packed them just to wear them today. The scarf is by Cleo Ferin Mercury and it’s covered in gingham and motifs like lipsticks, nail polishes and ice cream sundeas. Somehow it seemed like the perfect scarf to wear for a day of fun at Coney Island. As for the Karl Lagerfeld Tote Bag, I am so obsessed with this bag! I took about 50 photos of this bag throughout the day, I must have said, ‘this will be a great backdrop for my bag about 20 times!’.
