Balmain Extatic Tiger Orchid
Extatic Tiger Orchid opens with fresh and spicy notes of ginger flower, underlined by an accord of sunny flowers and a touch of pink pepper, says the perfumer. Then appears the tiger orchid whose suave character is highlighted by two velvety flowers: night jasmine and ylang-ylang. This wooded and balmy base note blending patchouli, cashmeran and benzoin concludes this opulent composition of exacerbated femininity

My Thoughts
Balmain Extatic is amazing; Dark and sexy, with just the right amount of sweetness, spice, woods, amber, florals, citrus and musk. It’s mysterious and rich, yet it has a hint of playfulness to it, with a rock ‘n’ roll edge. When I heard Balmain were releasing a twist on their classic Extatic, I got excited and I knew Extatic Tiger Orchid I had to add it onto my ‘must sniff list’. What can I say, Extatic Tiger Orchid does not disappoint, it’s Extatic for the summer months; lighter and infused with a little more floral.
Balmain Extatic Tiger Orchid opens with sunny flowers and soft spicy pink pepper which vey quickly blend with the feminine florals of jasmine, ylang ylang and tiger orchid. I’m sure I can also detect some orange blossom, mandarin, lily and dark berries in the top and heart. As for the base, this is heavy and rich; filled with the amber-style notes of benzoin, smooth cashmere and deep powdery patchouli. Once again, the base feels more complex than declared with notes of rich woods, leather, musk and vanilla. Balmain Extatic Tiger Orchid is exotic, fabulous and sexy, just like the original, however, I would say it is a little more ‘day time’ than the original Extatic. It’s got more floral notes and pretty tones, and a little less rock ‘n’ roll darkness. It’s still wonderfully complex, mysterious, dark and sexy, but it’s just a *little* fresher and lighter, only a little though, fans of the original will still love it for it. Think of it as a summer’s day version of the classic, avid wearers of Extatic are going to love it for the Summer and those who find Extatic the original a little too intense might find this to be a more wearable version of the classic. For me, it’s a winner, I love the original and this is a great twist on the classic to wear in the summer!
