Fragrance: Penhaligon’s Equinox Bloom

Penhaligon's Equinox Bloom perfume fragrance review

Penhaligon’s Equinox Bloom

During one of my recent visits to London, I enjoyed an incredible brunch in a smart, refined place, where the magnificent atmosphere of the rooms, furnished with opulent floral compositions, ensnared my senses almost at once. While admiring the floral scenery, my brunch included delightful toasts topped with honey and marmalade and these gourmand facets inspired me to bring to Equinox Bloom a trendy, modern inflexion to the generous floral bouquet. To me, this luxurious and abundant refinement reflects Penhaligon´s generosity in fragrances in a perfect way.

My Thoughts

Oh la la! Equinox Bloom is Penhaligon’s first gourmand fragrance and it is a real treat for the senses! Equinox Bloom is a little different to all other Penhaligon’s fragrances, which tend to either be refined and traditional (for example English Fern and Lily of the Valley), or complex and exotic (like As Sawira and Sartorial). Equinox Bloom is unlike all the others, it’s a little less serious and a lot more playful! This fragrance opens with a pretty garland of feminine florals, violet, orange blossom, frangipani and jasmine. Running along side the florals is heavy hits of creamy Chantilly and sweet brown sugar. It has a real caramelised burnt sugar note which runs along side the pretty and glamorous florals. The base notes are warm, charismatic ambers and although the brown sugar is noted as a base note, I think it’s evident throughout the fragrance. Equinox Bloom is full of florals, cake, excitement, joy and it’s hyper feminine and fancy. It’s the perfume to wear with a pink Chanel handbag whilst giggling over too much cake at The Ritz with your friends, it’s sophisticated, addictive, complex but oh-so-fun and delicious! Personally, I like my perfumes to be a little more gender neutral, generally woody and oriental, but I know women like my friend Adorn Girl will love this perfume. She loves sweet cakes and florals, which have a heavy hit of night-time sexy built in, which can be hard to find in the world of luxury fragrance!

Penhaligon’s Equinox Bloom will be available from March 2016 in Penhaligon’s boutiques and online.
