My Thoughts

I get so excited when new rose based perfumes launch, especially when they are created by one of my favourite fragrances houses! I have featured Annick Goutal perfumes time and time again, because, quite frankly, I bloody love them! Their simple, chic and often playful fragrances make my heart sing, and their recent collection Les Absolus d’Annick Goutal (a heavier, darker collection) features one of my most treasured perfumes, Ambre Sauvage. 

Annick Goutal’s latest launch, Rose PomPon is every bit as magical as I hoped it would be. First, let me explain the three types are roses which are used in this perfume; the Rose Pompon is a garden rose which has so many petals it almost looks like a peony, it’s scent is soft and delicate. Bulgarian Roses have a freshness to them, they have that classic rose scent with a crisp greenness to them. Finally the Taïf Rose is a rare breed of rose who’s scent is a little more heady and sensual. The essence of these three roses are blended with pink peonies and berries to create very pretty, playful and light rose fragrance. Whilst I love a heavy red rose perfume in the Winter, the same perfume in the Summer can be too heavy and a little overwhelming. Rose PomPon is perfect for Summer, those hot sticky days where you still want to smell beautiful, but it’s too hot for a heavy red rose perfume. As well as being a lighter rose scent, it also has at the charming peonies and juicy dark blackberries and sweet red raspberry, making it less sexy and more playful. The prettiness is nicely off-set with a hit of spicy black pepper to give it a little balance and edge. Annick Goutal Rose Pompon is a beautiful light, but luxe rose perfume. Perfect for Summer or for those ladies who love red roses, but want something a little gentler and fresher than a heavy, velvet rose. It’s every bit as adorable as the name would suggest!
