Clinique Aromatics Elixir was created in the 70’s and since then it has been known and loved by fans around the world. Since it’s release, the bottle design hasn’t been updated, the formula hasn’t changed, it’s rarely promoted or advertised and yet it continues to sell. It’s a cult classic. First of all, for all the perfume bottle enthusiasts out there, I love the fact it’s unchanged, in a world full of flashy and fabulous bottles, there’s something humble and charming about a simple bottle which has stayed the same for 40 years. It’s synonymous the the fragrance, which as you are about to hear, is a winner! Aromatics Elixir is a dramatic floral fragrance, it’s heavy and unashamed. Newcomers should note that one squirt is enough, too much of this perfume can be a little overwhelming, it’s stunning, but it’s intense! The perfume lasts for hours, if you get it on your clothes you can smell it for days and the bottle lasts longer than you can imagine because so little is applied and you never need to top-up throughout the day. The fragrance itself is like a classic heady floral, it has an old school feel but it’s so glamorous it doesn’t feel dated. It’s rich with sandalwood, rose, jasmine and Patchouli, all the other notes are visible but for me, these are the ones which dominate. It’s super luxe and concentrated, it’s going to the theatre for the night with an air of nostalgia; black dresses, pearls, wine, cabs, dark nights, bright lights and a fabulous heady floral fit for all the excitement!
