Beauty: Five Great Red Lipsticks

Current Favourite Reds

How I feel about red lipsticks, is how Carrie Bradshaw feels about shoes. I can’t pick favourites, it’s too hard. My mood, the season, the day, everything effects which red lipstick I want to wear, I can’t pick just one favourite shade, brand, texture, finish… That’s just impossible! Instead, I’m going to tell you about five great lipsticks. If you have a favourite red, please do comment below and let me know which one it is!

Nars

Ok, so of course I had to mention NARS. It’s an old favourite of mine, in fact it’s an old favourite of everyone’s. It’s just brilliant! There are quite a few reds in the Nars collection, but ‘Grace’ is one that I personally love. Whichever shade you go for, I can guarantee this is a lipstick you will treasure. It’s widely recognised as one of the worlds best lipsticks and once you have it, you will understand why!

Too Faced

I have such a beauty crush on Too Faced. I love their leopard print bronzer, their Love Palette and their melted liquid lipstick in hot pink. Too Faced are famed for their stunning packaging which contains killer products. This lipstick is actually quite reserved packaging wise, probably because the lipstick is SO DAMNED GOOD they didn’t want to detract attention away from the product. It’s super-luxe creamy formula is addictive. My personal favourite shade is ‘Ohhh’ for it’s dusty red.

Barry M

A thriftier option, but if money is tight or you are out and about without a lipstick and you desperately need one, this Barry M lipstick is my favourite budget red. It’s a good colour, great finish, nice pigment and lasts well. All for less than a fiver, a girl can’t complain! (My personal favourite shade is ‘Pillar Box Red’ and FYI, I love ‘Shocking Pink’ too)

Illamasqua

Illamasqua is the most rock ‘n’ roll make-up brand I know. They are constantly pushing boundaries of how to wear make-up and their looks are often quite extreme. They encourage their customers to experiment with textures, colours and finishes and where they go, others follow. Their make-up tends to be quite dramatic which is why I love their lipsticks, as they are super charged colours with heavy pigments, which last for hours and hours. My personal favourite shade has to be ‘Virgin’.

Clinique

Those who follow me on Instagram will have seen this Clinique red many, many times. In fact, I love this lipstick so much, I have about eight shades from this collection. It’s a great all-rounder and the red base on the case makes it easy to find in a hurry. When you have 50 lipsticks which are all gold and black on the outside, this one is easy to spot in a hurry! My personal favourite shade is ‘Passion Pop’.
