Perfume: Atkinsons ‘Oud Save The Queen’

Perfume fragrance review Atkinsons Oud Save The Queen

Atkinsons Oud Save The Queen

Imagine, please, London, the Roaring Twenties, the glittering facade of Atkinsons, and, at its legendary portal, the dashing Crown Prince Mohammed Ali Ibrahim, renowned pugilist, sports-car driver and extravagant dandy. The exotic cynosure of the Crown Prince’s first fragrances are the heart and soul of Atkinsons’ new Oud collection. So too are its distinctively English accords of Central London, Earl Grey tea and, for the Prince’s own scent, leather. The ensuing cosmopolitan bouquets are a richly fragrant entente between the Orient and bonny old England, which the house is now pleased to revive in two sumptuously packaged imperial eaux de parfum: Oud Save the King and Oud Save the Queen.

Notes

Top Notes: Earl Grey Tea, Cloves, Bergamot

My Thoughts

This is one of those perfumes I have been trying to write about for weeks. The problem is,  I love it so much, I never seem to be able to express how much I love it and explain why it’s so good. It’s just so incredible that my writing skills can’t handle it! Atkinsons Oud Save The Queen is so special, all Atkinsons’ fragrances are lovely, but this one is so good it on another level, it’s like you can feel 200 years of fragrance expertise in this one perfume. It’s quite different to what you might expect from the notes, you can smell all the notes which are mentioned above, but it is it so much more complex than you might expect. It’s rich, exciting and beautifully balanced. It’s warm, smoky, creamy, spicy, floral, heady, fresh and powdery. It smells like oud, orange blossom, tea, bergamot, dark fruits, vanilla, tonka bean, jasmine, rose, resins and so much more. I have a lot of rich, oud based perfumes in my wardrobe, but I am tempted to say this one if my favourite, if not my very favourite! It’s so stunning, I want to wear it every day and I wish it came a a home candle so I could fill my home with the scent of it too. I’m literally obsessed with it! If you favour rich, dark, oriental perfumes like me, I think you will love it too!

Atkinson’s Oud Save The Queen is available from Atkinson’s, as well as Selfridges and Harrods.
