Perfume: Connock London ‘Kukui’

Kukui connock london perfume perfumery review

Amanda Connock has fragrance in her blood, her parents founded A&E Connock, suppliers of speciality ingredients to the perfumery and cosmetics industry. As a child, she would be given their old samples to blend their own perfumes and make bath salts. As a grown up, she joined the family business, travelling the world to source rare and exotic ingredients, before setting up her own venture, Connock London. Kukui is the signature scent of the brand.

My Thoughts

I have never been to Hawaii, I can only imagine what it is like; hot air and sea breeze with boats, fresh flowers, fruits and lush greens. I can imagine it’s relaxed and joyous, paradise with a sense of fun. It sounds like the perfect place to find fragrance inspiration. Connock London Kukui is a floral perfume like no other, it’s exotic in a beachy way, it’s floral without being girly and citrusy without being fruity. The citrus is sharp and punchy, the florals are white and pure and the white florals are grassy. It’s like undiscovered florals and fruits, you have seen photos of them, but never smelt them before. It’s fresh, exciting, warm and free. It’s an extended holiday which is no longer a vacation, you have become a local. This isn’t coconuts and suncream, instead, it’s a warm ocean breeze carrying a garland of fresh flowers, lazy mornings in your very own beach house on a tropical island. It’s eating fresh fruit for breakfast which two years ago you had never even heard of and now it’s a staple and commuting to work is a distant dream. That’s what Kukui is.
