Annick Goutal recently launched their Les Absolus Collection. I totally fell in love with Ambre Sauvage, read more about it here. In fact, I love it so much, I had to look into the the rest of the collection, Vanille Charnelle and 1001 Ouds.

Notes

Top notes: Ylang-ylang, Pepper

Middle notes: Vanilla, tonka bean, white musk

base notes: Vanilla absolute, vetiver

My Thoughts

Annick Goutal’s Les Absolus Collection takes inspiration from the Orient, each fragrance is heavily scented, opulent and exotic. Vanille Charnelle is themed around the raw ingredient of Vanilla. When you read the notes in this perfume, you might expect the ylang-ylang and pepper to have more of an impact, but actually, vanilla is at the centre of the fragrance and everything else has a small supporting role to bring out characteristics of vanilla. There is a sweetness to this perfume, but it’s not your average teenage girl pink sweetness. It’s rich and fill with the best vanilla pods and tonka beans sourced from around the world. Imagine a beautiful restaurant in Paris, the decor is stunning, you are with your best friends and carrying a brand new peachy-pink Chanel clutch bag. As you place it on the table, you notice the menu in front of you is filled with cakes and patisseries and you smile, because you didn’t want dinner, you only wanted desert!
