Travel: Rock, Cornwall

Don’t you just love a good staycation?! Last week I visited one of my favourite British Seaside destinations, Rock in Cornwall. We rented the most beautiful holiday home, complete with a pool and in walking distance to the beach (and ice cream parlour!)

I tried to turn off my computer for the duration of the holiday, but I couldn’t resist making a few Pinterest boards and keeping up to date with my Instagram posts. So here are a few of my holiday snaps, all taken directly from my Instagram account, so apologies to anyone who has already see them. From the pastel coloured cottages to splashing in the pool, numerous amounts of ice creams and walks on the beach.

Five things to know about Holidays in Rock, Cornwall

Where to Stay

We always book a holiday home, it means you have more space and freedom. If it’s rainy you can relax in the lounge just as you would at home. In the past we have booked houses with huge gardens, pools, hot tubs, beach access and more! It’s also really nice to be able to cook for yourself and friends at night or have BBQ’s in the garden.

Beaches

The beaches in the area are great, if you love to surf or body-board, you will love it as there are some great waves! Don’t forget your wetsuit (and perhaps a liner), you will need it!!

Padstow

Rock is just a short boat trip away from Padstow. Whilst you could drive there, it would take ages and a sea taxi is so much more fun! It’s £4 return to go from Rock to Padstow and it takes just a few minutes each way. Once in Padstow there are lots of really sweet shops and galleries to explore as well as the harbour. Rick Stein has quite a few restaurants there, including a little fish and chip shop cafe which overlooks the harbour. It’s delicious and reasonably priced!

What to Eat

As well as serving up awesome fish and chips, Cornwall is famous for it’s clotted cream! Make sure you have at least one scone with cream and jam, as well as plenty of ice creams. Some parlours serve clotted cream vanilla ice cream, it’s important to try the local cuisine! I really like the Waterfront Cafe for a delicious bacon sandwich and Vanilla two doors down does an amazing ice cream cone!

Relax

Cornwall is super relaxed! It’s all about sleeping in, long breakfasts and lengthy dinners with a little walking and exploring in the middle! Leave the London fast-pace at home and relax!
