Perfume: Annick Goutal ‘Ambre Sauvage’

Perfume: Annick Goutal 'Ambre Sauvage'

I am a huge fan of Annick Goutal perfumes. They are beautifully made, high quality French perfumes. A friend of mine once told me that every chic Parisian lady owns at least one Chanel bag and at least one bottle of Annick Goutal perfume. True story!

The latest collection of perfumes is named Les Absolus d’Annick Goutal and it takes inspiration from the Orient and three main scents; Oud, Amber and Vanilla. They wanted to make three beautiful new fragrances which were authentic to their raw materials as well as being opulent, exotic and whilst still staying true to the Annick Goutal brand. The collection is made up of 1001 OudsAmbre Sauvage and Vanille Charnelle.

Ambre Sauvage

The scent of Amber is made up of a blend of resins as well as woods and essential oils like frankincense, myrrh, patchouli and sandalwood. Each one is unique to the perfumery and Annick Goutal’s Ambre Sauvage is inspired by a journey on a flying carpet, the smell of incense, florals, wax, spices, freshness, excitement.

Notes

Top Notes: Patchouli, Amber

Heart Notes: Pink peppercorn, Lavender

Base Notes: Iris, Vanilla

My Thoughts

Les Absolus d’Annick Goutal is inspired by the Middle East, but it still has a very modern, French feel. I can see the collection being appropriate for both markets, as it’s opulent and rich, yet it’s sensual and fine. Ambre Sauvage is fabulous, it reminds me a little of their classic mens fragrance Ambre Fetiche, but it’s more comprehensive. My boyfriend often wears Ambre Fetiche, and it is one of his favourites but he actually prefers Ambre Sauvage. This new fragrance has the spice of the pink peppercorn, the sweetness of the vanilla and the floral of the iris. Ambre Sauvage is fine, full and full of contrasting notes. Ambre Sauvage is unisex and both myself and my boyfriend have been sharing this bottle. It’s dark, rich, sweet, sexy, smoky and spicy. It’s heavy and heady, yet it has some a soft subtly to it. I’m obsessed with it and so is my boyfriend, he has already tried to claim it as his own and after one day of wearing it, he was asked three times for the name of his cologne!

Annick Goutal Ambre Sauvage is available now exclusively from Harrods and it’s a must-sniff!

I think your blog has a variety of subjects that you’ve touched on. It’s great qaulity and I’ve only been skimming around for a short while but it’s definitely caught my attention.
