I recently got the most beautiful Violet scented candle and since then I have been searching for a Violet based fragrance to cure my violet obsession. However, it seems the world thinks that violets are old fashioned and there are just not enough violet fragrances around. I have a lot of research to do, as I personally think violets are stunning, they are somewhere between floral and sweet, fabulous and playful. What’s not to love?!
Thierry Mugler Alien
Thierry Mugler Alien contains a hint of violets, which is perhaps the perfect amount for someone who has never worn violet scented perfumes before. Thierry Mugler Alien was inspired by a futuristic, mysterious aura of a woman from another world. Multi-facested, shocking, peaceful, strong, new and exciting. Ironically, I wanted this perfume for the violet notes, but they are very hidden and this perfume is actually more about jasmine and amber.
I did some research and only a few notes for this perfume have been officially named; jasmine sambac, cashmeran wood and white amber. This perfume is much more complex than just these three notes and hints have been made of orange blossom, violet and musk.
This perfume really opens with the freshness and florals of jasmine, I was a little worried at first it was a little ‘soapy’, but it soon settles down to being really pretty with lots of white florals and sweet amber. One spray is all you need, too much can be a little overwhelming and it has an amazing staying power. It’s only got a hint of violet in there, you almost can’t find it, but if you are looking for jasmine, this perfume is perfect for you! Also, the bottle is fabulous, I love the design and the stunning jewel colour, the size I have is refillable too, which is very rare!
