With Father’s Day fast approaching, I headed off to my secret shopping weapon, The Royal Exchange at Bank, London. This area is filled with wealthy men who like the finer things in life, which is why it is the best place to go shopping for a man. It takes about 10 minutes by bus to get to Bank from my flat and my boyfriend’s members club is at Bank, so it is perfect for dropping shopping bags there for the cloakroom to store for me. There are also loads of wonderful eateries and cafes in the area, as well as the famous Grand Cafe in the centre of the Royal Exchange building. It’s probably one of the most fabulous spots to have a coffee in the whole of London!
Last Christmas my boyfriend did all his Christmas shopping at Bank, it had everything he wanted, HermĂ©s and Tiffany & Co. for me, Penhaligon’s for his dad and my dad, Jo Malone London for my mum and Lulu Guinness for my sister. Easy! The Royal Exchange doesn’t have a loads of shops, but it has everything you need, it’s a lovely curated selection of great designers where you can buy a little something for any budget. I headed there today to pick out something lovely for my dad for Father’s Day.
First stop, is of course Penhaligon’s, I love their beautiful perfumes, candles and grooming products. Between my boyfriend and I, we have a huge selection of their fragrances. One of my all-time favourite perfumes is Cornubia, but I also love Tralala and As Sawira. My boyfriend also loves As Sawira, we fight over it often and he loves Satorial. Penhaligon’s have just launched a small selection of 30ml travel sized bottles, which are perfect for traveling and gifts. As well as mini rollerball perfumes, which are perfect for handbags. Their new scent No. 33 is perfect for the modern man too, so there are plenty of great gifts here for men, as well as women. Next on my personal Penhaligon’s wish list is Elizabethan Rose and their new fragrance Halfeti, which is inspired by the lavish goods traded with Turkey exotic florals, spices, soft leathers, precious fabrics and the very rare ‘Black’ roses. Perfect!
I then stopped by Paul A Young, in case you don’t know, this chocolatier is the bomb! In just 12 years they have become a huge name in the world of chocolate and food innovation and it was thanks to Mr. Young you see salted caramel everywhere. He was a big pioneer of the flavour which we all know and love today! They sell amazing bars of high quality chocolate, but it is his truffles which he is famous for. Think Treacle Tart, Pimms, Marmite, Honey & Rose Caramel, Bakewell Tart and so many more! Paul A Young is really at the forefront of British culinary innovation and their chocolate make a great gift if you are on a budget. I had to get myself one of his famous hot chocolates, they are basically liquid chocolate, and they are intense and incredible! In fact, I would say, the best hot chocolate in the UK!
Next up, I went to Links of London. I am a huge fan of their modern yet classic take on jewellery. I have a watch, necklaces and a friendship bracelet, but I am itching to add to my collection. I would love to get my dad one of their beautiful men’s watches, they are so stylish and beautifully made. I could spend a fortune in Links of London given half the chance, so I tried not to linger too long! I think he would love a pair of Links of London cufflinks, they are stylish and beautifully made, my boyfriend has a pair and he loves them and he always comments on the way they have such a lovely weight to them.
Finally, I stopped by Crockett & Jones, I recently instagrammed their leopard design and added them to this Monochrome Wishlist. I really love Crockett & Jones shoes, they were founded in 1879 in Northampton, England and they still make all their shoes here to this date. Crockett & Jones shoes are so beautifully made and I am obsessed with their custom made slip-ons. You can choose your own velvet, lining and embroidered designs, there are lots of embroidery designs you can pick from, but if you want to give them your family crest or your own design, you can and they will make them for you. Amazing!! For my Dad I would select a pair of their classic black brogues as they are such beautiful quality and such a chic design, I know he would love them. For me, I would go for the custom made slip-ons any day of the week, aren’t they fabulous?
So there we have it, my day of shopping at Bank’s The Royal Exchange, so many beautiful shops and beautiful items and such a stunning location. It’s the only place in London I don’t mind seeing pigeons because it reminds me of Mary Poppins! Whatever the reason, it’s a great place to come shopping! Thanks for having me!
Have you ever been shopping at Bank’s The Royal Exchange?
