Work: What’s in my Handbag

Kipling Yaretzi Lea backpack whats in my handbag fashion blog blogger

The contents of my handbag changes on a daily basis and if I’m honest, the handbag itself does too. I wish I could be one of those people who uses the same bag every day, but I’m not!

I blog full time these days, so I pack my bag each morning according to what I will be doing. For instance, if I have a meeting I might need my iPad, if I am going to press days I might leave the iPad at home as it’s light and carry my camera instead.  I couldn’t put the camera in the picture as I used it to take the picture, but I’m currently using the Olympus Pen PE-7, it’s small, light and take a great photo!

Today I have a pretty good snapshot of what’s inside my handbag for an average day. I thought it would be fun to share what I need to get me through the day as blogger in London. For me, packing light is important, but it’s also imperative I have everything I need.

First, let’s chat handbags! It’s no secret I have a lot of handbags, so I tend to swap them around often as there is no point owning handbags you never use. At the weekend I tend to use a shoulder or clutch bag and during the week I tend to favour a smart leather backpack. I have a black one by Knomo and a fun silver one from Boden. My latest bag to add to my collection is this Kipling Yaretzi Lea backpack. It is a lovely coral pink colour, made of soft leather and it has a great section to put your phone in and another inside zip to keep your keys safe. Another great feature is at the back of the bag, there is another zipped section which is perfect for storing my cards. It means my bank card is super safe and super accessible. Oh and I love the super sleek design!

Make up

I used to carry a full make up bag around with me, but quite frankly it was just too heavy and impractical, so now I just have the essentials tucked safely in a side pocket of my bag. Lipstick is by far the most important piece of make up for me, so I always have at least two lipsticks with me at any one time. I’m currently using Kiko Lip Marker in red, you can use this as a lipstick or a lip liner. It is a lovely shade of bright red which never bleeds and lasts a really long time. The only thing it lacks is a finish, so I tend to use it as a lip liner and I use another gloss or lipstick over the top. The lipstick I am currently using is an old faithful by Barry M. It was cheap and cheerful and it’s a lovely shade of pinky red. It’s perfect for throwing in my bag!

A good eyeliner is important to me too, as I don’t have eyes as big as Bambi’s. I’m currently using Soap & Glory’s Supercat. It’s a felt tip style liner, it’s a perfect thickness for me and gives a good solid line.

I went on holiday recently and I ate a lot of delicious food, all my clothes are feeling a little snug and my cheekbones need a little help as a result. So I have been using a lot more contouring products to create the allusion of cheekbones! I’m quite liking the Lily Lolo  bronzer for contouring at the moment. I used to use this as a bronzer, but actually it is really nice to create some shadows too! On my brows I always use Benefit’s Gimme Brow, basically it’s just the best, read more about it here!

If there is one thing I can’t be without, it’s 3G and phone battery. I recently had to upgrade my phone contract to give me unlimited 3G as every single month I was using my full data allowance, I didn’t have a cheap contract before, I just use a lot more 3G each month than you are meant to! I have recently been doing quite a few instagram take-overs for brands and whilst I am taking over their account, I still need to maintain my own. I have found the best way to manage this is by having two phones. I have my normal iPhone5 linked to my own Instagram account and I have my Huawei phone linked to the brands takeover account. The camera is great and it really saves a lot of time logging in and out of accounts and means I can easily keep on top of my own instagram. The other great thing is that the Hauwei phone has an amazing battery life, so when I am out and about, I tend to do a lot of my emails off this phone as my iPhone battery is not what it used to be!

I am a bit of a perfume geek and I like to carry a small bottle around with me as it is nice to have a top up before meetings, especially if I am hopping on and off tubes all day. My current perfume is Van Cleef & Arpels Rêve Enchanté Limited Edition, it smells like fresh summer pears with citrus and musk, it’s really pretty yet sophisticated and it’s perfect for Summer!

I always get really dry lips and hands, so it’s nice to have a little hand cream and lip balm in my bag. My current lip balm is by Cowshed, I got it when I was at Babington House, it’s natural and super hydrating. My hand cream is by L’occitane, if you have never tried any of the L’occitane hand creams, you really need to, they are nourishing and velvety, they are a treat for the hands and senses!

I always carry around sunglasses and my current pair of choice are these Kipling Rivier bronze Sunglasses. They have a kind of retro 70’s vibe to them and they are really flattering for my face shape. They are really easy, lightweight and casual pair of sunnies. which are perfect for everyday.

Notebook and Pen

Anyone who knows me will know I am the least organised person ever. I am messy and chaotic and I leave myself notes which I instantly loose. I have thrown away all my loose papers and I am now fully committed to my little yellow Leuchtturm note book and Montblanc Starwalker pen. I am trying hard to make my to-do-lists and write down all my ideas and get organised. Maybe I’m crazy, but I feel a lot more creative with a pen and notebook in front of me, rather than a laptop screen!

Purse, cards, keys

I used to carry around a purse and a card holder. The purse contained all my loose change, store cards and loyalty cards. My card holder would contain my Oyster Card, bank card and Starbucks card (my power three!). I realised I used my card holder way more than my purse, so now I often leave my purse at home and just take my Chanel card holder. Who needs a heavy purse full of coppers and reward card anyway?!

🙂 The color of your bag is unusual and I like the matching contents 🙂
I also like the camera you’re using. I’m thinking about renewing mine, as it’s hard to take pictures in the evening.
I use a backpack mainly for traveling.
    HAPPY Sunday 🙂
