Beauty: Ciaté Geltox Starter Kit

Ciate geltox starter kit set gel nails at home notd review

I’m obsessed with gel nails, they are the best! If you have never had them, you usually get them done at a salon and it is kind of like a nail polish which is baked onto your nails and lasts for about 2-4 weeks. At a salon it costs about £25-£40 (perhaps it costs slightly less outside of London?!) With gels you can clean, garden, do crafts… basically anything and your nail polish won’t chip for weeks. It’s amazing and for a nail polish addict, it’s a real time saver! Move over salon gels, the  Ciaté Geltox Starter Kit is a game-changer.

At-home gel kits have been around for a while, but I had never taken the plunge, as they tend to be quite expensive and all the ones I have seen have been brands that I don’t know much about and just don’t trust with that amount of cash. Then I heard Ciate have launched a set, which is why I thought it was about time I did a Ciaté Geltox Starter Kit review.

This set comes with clear and easy instructions. They are really easy to follow and understand. First you wipe the Geltox cleanser over your nails, buff your nails, apply a base coat and nail polish as normal and then apply the Geltox topcoat and place under the LED lamp. The full process takes about 45 minutes, but to be honest, it’s only that long because you have to make sure your nail polish is bone dry before you apply the Geltox topcoat.

Results

I have used this kit a few times now, the first time I used it I was really happy with the results, but the second time around I LOVED the results. The Geltox polish is a little thicker than a regular top coat, so the first time I used it, I found it a little hard to control and the results were a little messy. The second time around, I was able to be much neater and the end results were much better! Both times the gel polish lasted 2 weeks, which is about the same as the salon equivalent lasts.

Tips and Tricks

The Geltox polish is a little thicker than a regular top coat, so take this stage slow and steady. Also, if you accidentally get any on the skin around your nails, make sure you remove it with the tool provided. It won’t flake off your skin like regular topcoat, it will actually peel off and remove some of your colour on your nail with it.

Most at home gel kits only come in a limited selection of colours, but the amazing thing about Ciaté Geltox Starter Kit is that it turns any polish into a gel. That means you can use any colour by any brand. That’s a huge selling point to me, as it means I can use all my existing nail polishes and I am not restricted to a limited number of colours and shades.

If you are a gel nails fan like I am, you will love this set! I love the fact once you have bought it, you don’t need to spend another bundle of cash buying the compatible nail polishes in colours you don’t really like. If you get gels regularly, this kit will pay for itself after just 6-8 weeks, which is pretty amazing!

I wish I had got this kit sooner, I’m obsessed with it, the results are amazing! Available from ASOS Beauty.

    🙂 This sounds real interesting!
How do you get the polish off if you want to change the color?
Do you need a special nail polish remover?
    Have a good evening 🙂

I’ve heard you can use a UV gel top coat on top of any polish then set with a lamp but I’m just not precise enough to dare…
