Beauty: The Weird and The Wonderful

beauty the weird and the wonderful lush shampoo bars

I was in the shower and washing my hair with Lush’s Shampoo bar and I was thought to myself: ‘a bar of shampoo soap, that’s so weird, but really cool!’. It got me thinking about some of the other weird but wonderful beauty products I have been enjoying recently!

Lush Shampoo Bars

It’s not every day you rub a bar of soap over your head to wash your hair, but thats exactly what you do with Lush’s Shampoo Bars. The one thing I hate about natural hair care is that it is hard to work into a lather and cover all your hair and all your scalp. With Lush’s shampoo bars they do work into quite a nice lather and you can literally rub the bar all over your hair and head to get really clean. I was worried the texture might be quite soft and it would disintegrate in the shower, but it keeps it’s shape well. It’s weird, but it’s really good!

Library of Fragrance Perfume

I have blogged about the Library of Fragrance perfumes before, they are lovely single scent perfumes which you can wear alone or layer up. Some of their scents are more traditional, like Peony and Fresh Fig leaf, others are a little more playful like Play-doh, Tomato and Whiskey Tobacco. They are super fun and if you layer them up with the right scents, they are actually a lot more wearable than you can imagine! I personally like to combine the Whiskey Tobacoo with Bulgarian Rose for a rich, warm evening scent.

Dr Organic Snail Gel

Who knew Dr Organic Snail Gel can make you look a whole lot younger? It has a whole range of anti-aging benefits; it softens wrinkles, smooths skin, gives antioxidant protection and helps improve overall hydration. It might sound weird putting snail gel on your hands and face, but once you try it, you will be convinced. I gave my mother the range to try out and she loved it!

MyChelle Cactus Mask

That’s right, MyChelle’s Cactus Mask really does contain Prickly Pear Cactus and Blue Agave to help sooth, soften and hydrate skin. If you have severely dry skin, this mask will also help ease discomfort and redness. I use it on my cheeks which tend to get dry and red, especially in the Winter with the wind and central heating. I never would have guessed Prickly Pear Cactus would help make a great face mask, but it does!

Monu Foaming Cleansing Cloths

It’s a little strange taking a face wipe out of the pack to discover it is dry, but not dried out. Monu Foaming Cleansing Cloths are designed this way, so that when you are ready to use them and they come into contact with water, they start to foam up. Great for festivals and great for those days you haven’t done your laundry and you don’t have a fresh flannel.

Carex Strawberry Laces Hand Wash

My boyfriend came home from Tesco with this Carex Strawberry Laces hand wash recently. He couldn’t resist! We normally favour Neal’s Yard Remedies hand wash, but he thought this might be a fun change. It made me giggle, he knew it would, Strawberry laces hand wash anyone?

Have you used any weird but wonderful beauty products recently?

I looove Lush’s shampoo bars, but I’ve actually never thought they were weird! The cactus mask sounds worth trying too if it works so well on the skin 🙂
