I am a lucky girl and I have spent the last week at the beautiful Babington House in Somerset. It is somewhere I have been meaning to go for a while now, so it was wonderful to be able to sit back, relax, eat limitless afternoon teas and have a lot of spa treatments. Hate me? I would too, but I promise I don’t do this every week!
I always try to travel light; I take clothes and accessories which are versatile yet fancy, and beauty products which are luxurious yet suitcase-friendly. I thought it might be fun to share my travel favourites and why these items were so great for me on my travels!
I did pack a whole host of beautiful body and body care products to Babington House, but they all stayed firmly in my suitcase as our suite was piled high with Cowshed products! I literally had two baths a day and I tried every single product in my room! I adored the Cowshed Gorgeous Body Scrub and the Bullocks Bracing Body Wash was particularly special too! I may have come back with a little bag of Cowshed treats for myself to enjoy for the next few weeks to remind me of my trip!
Whenever you are going to stay at a nice hotel, it is always nice to arrive with nice, clean luggage. So often, luggage can be dirty and stained from shampoo bottle fails and aircraft holds. I recently got a super-cute flight suitcase for my trip to Bali, but I realised I needed something bigger for this trip, as I am away for a week, so I opted for this Eastpak Trolly suitcase. I love the plume print and because it is Eastpak it is lightweight, but sturdy!
I recently worked with Radley on an Instagram takeover and the first part of it was whilst I was at Babington house. I loved using my new handbag during my stay, it was smart but casual and the top handle and shoulder strap meant it was really practical to use. I have a few Radley bags now, their last two collections have been really amazing and they have created some really beautiful yet affordable leather handbags. This pink Holland Park bag is my latest and I really love it! The blush pink colour is beautiful and it’s got a bucket bag shape, which is my current favourite style of handbag. Check the Radley Instagram account to see my photos from the Instagram takeover!
Spas always provide flip-flops, but I always think it is nice to have your own with you. They tend to be more comfortable, fit better and be easier to walk in. Mine are by Office and they are super cool and comfy, perfect for the dreamy Cowshed Spa at Babington House!
We were incredibly lucky with the weather whilst we were at Babington House, it was beautiful every single day! When I was packing these Boden yellow stripe espildrilles, I thought I was being a little optimistic, but actually, they were perfect for wearing down to breakfast, gardens and around the house! Not only are they cute, but they are also super comfortable!
The morning I left for Babington House, my boyfriend said to me ‘did you pack suncream?’ I said I hadn’t but I probably wouldn’t need it. He passed me a spray can of Garnier Ambre Solaire dry mist (SPF 30) and I popped it in my bag. Thank goodness he did, the weather was stunning and I know I would have ended up with burnt skin without this sun protection. The spray mist meant it was super fast and easy to apply and even though I spent a lot of time in the sun, I didn’t get a single bit of me even slightly burnt (or even pink!). Oh and it is really nice and light to wear, it’s not sticky or greasy and to be honest, you just don’t feel it on your skin, it also has a nice light citrus scent!
A couple of weeks ago I woke up with a tiny headache and a feeling that I might be getting a cold. I had an inhalation with Aromatherapy Associates Support Essence and after a few minutes my headache shifted and I felt human again. Over the next few nights, I put a few drops on my pillow as a precaution and each morning I woke up feeling great. A week passed and I realised I no longer felt like I was coming down with a cold, but continued using the oil as it was such a soothing scent to drift off to sleep to. It’s been two weeks now and I am full-on addicted to Aromatherapy Associates Support Essence, it’s just the nicest scent to fall asleep to!
For the times I only needed my phone, lipstick and room key, I put everything in this embellished Boden clutch. It’s so pretty and cheery and perfect for the essentials. I love the white sequins with the pop of green and pink, even our waitress discreetly asked me where it was from!
As I mentioned, the weather in Somerset was stunning, so sunglasses were pretty darn important. I took a few pairs with me, but my favourites were Ray Ban, I swapped between this pair of soft round framed glasses and the classic Clubmasters. Out of the two, I think these bad boys have to be my favourites!
I always like to take a special perfume on holiday with me and they don’t come any more special than Bulgari au thé bleu. It smells like lavender, grapefruit and violet, with a beautiful base note of musk. It is really fresh, watery and a very modern twist on lavender. It’s so serene and perfect to wear during the Summer at a spa! This perfume isn’t out yet, but it will be soon and it’s well worth looking out for!
My skin tone is pretty pale and in the Winter it doesn’t bother me too much, but when the sun comes out, I swear, my while skin seems to glow like a hi-visability workwear. I am a little scared of self tan as sometimes you just don’t know how it is going to develop in 6 hours time. I like products you can control and build up gradually, I sometimes use Dove Summer Glow on my arms and legs and I love Vita Liberata Trystal Bronzing Minerals for my face and décolletage. This product is amazing as you brush it on and it works as a bronzer, but also contains DHA for a lasting tan result. It’s subtle but it builds up so you get exactly the result you want. It’s a bit of a lifesaver if you are pale and don’t want too much tan, but want a bit of a healthy glow.
