Diptyque Paris 34 boulevard saint germain is an iconic modern fragrance.

34 boulevard saint germain is the birthplace of the perfumery, Diptyque Paris, it was founded over 50 years ago, at this address by three friends. The friends; Christiane Gautrot, an interior decorator, Desmond Knox-Leet, a painter and Yves Coueslant, theatre administrator and set designer. Yves Coueslant has previously designing fabrics and wallpaper for the prestigious Liberty and Sanderson. They teamed up in 1961 and opened a store at 34 boulevard Saint-Germain to showcase their fabric designs. Not a perfumery as one might expect.

How it all began

Over the years they created a chic bazaar of unique and unexpected items, from their own creations, to antiques and curiosities from around the world. In 1963 they began to explore their love of fragrances, by creating a line of perfumes; Aubepine, Cannelle and The. In 1968 they launched their first eau de toilette, L’Eau, which is still an important scent for the brand. From this starting point, they set about creating more beautiful scents from the home and body, all inspired by their love travel, design and their unique view on beauty. All their fragrances are unisex and the packaging is always based on their signature design.

34

34 boulevard saint germain is the signature scent by Diptyque Paris. It is at this address the brand started and evolved into what it is today. It is a very special place to them, the fragrance, 34 boulevard saint germain captures the essence of the brand. The moment you walk into the store and smell the collection of fragrances meeting and the rich history of the brand. 50 years, passion, hard work and a beautiful collection of fragrances all combined into one.
