I love blogging about perfume, I’m not sure how it happened, but I have become a bit of a perfume geek over the last few years. I seem to know a lot about different perfumes, notes and concentrations. Maybe one day I will hone my knowledge and it can be my specialist subject on TV’s Mastermind… who knows!
Annick Goutal perfumes are a real joy, I have a few bottles and I love them, their Rose Absolute is a real joy and their Rose Absolue is rose perfection and whenever I wear Ce Soir ou Jamais, people always ask what perfume I am wearing. As for the mens scent, Ambre Fétiche, even my mum has told my boyfriend how good he smells when he wears this one. I was talking to a Parisian friend and she told me every Parisian lady owns at least one Chanel handbag and one bottle of Annick Goutal. Yet in the UK, it is relatively niche.
Annick Goutal L’ile au Thé is my latest obsession. There are not many tea scented perfumes on the market and none of them are as beautiful as this one. It opens with a burst of freshness, the citrusy mandarin blends beautifully with the bergamot of the tea. The white musk adds a soft hum of femininity.
This perfume is inspired by the volcanic island of Jeju near South Korea, where the lava rock and sparkling sun nourish the tea bushes, tangerine fields and plant life.
Top Notes: Mandarin, Citrus
Heart Notes: Tea, Osmanthus
Base Notes: White Musk
This perfume is beautiful, it is fresh yet sophisticated. I love the mandarin blending with the tea. It is the perfect perfume to wear for a glamorous picnic or afternoon tea. You can smell the woodiness of the branch of the tea leaf, the softness of the white musk and the green freshness and citrus of the tea leaves and mandarin. It’s effortless and fabulous, it’s one of my very favourite perfumes from the Annick Goutal range. It is perfect for Summer and it is a beautiful day perfume.
Annick Goutal L’ile au Thé is available from the 13th April 2015 and also comes as a limited edition candle.
