I have travelled a fair bit lately, well, London to Bali, Bali back to London (via Singapore of course) and then onto Paris and back. It’s been hectic and fun but my skin has taken a bit of a beating. I thought it might be fun to share some skin products I have been using over the last few weeks to help my skin recover.

I  have been using Modern Friction by Origins. It has a paste like consistency and contains Rice Starch cushioned in a cream like formula. I’m hooked on exfoliating my face and this gives the perfect level of exfoliation, without causing damage and striping my skin. I have been using it once a week.

When times are tough for my skin, I go with the old faithfuls. In this case, Liz Earle‘s cleanse and polish. It removes all dirt and make up gently but effectively. On no make-up days, I do a single cleanse, on make-up days I do the double cleanse. There is a reason this product has been described as ‘Iconic’ and has won over 100 beauty awards. It’s damned good!

Post-Cleanse I like to use Jurlique‘s Rosewater Balancing Mist. It’s one of those products that I never thought I needed, but I totally need and I am hooked on this product. Just spritz over your face after cleansing to tone, hydrate and soften your skin. Plus it feels great to mist yourself with rosewater twice a day!

Once a week I have been using Dermalogica‘s Skin Hydrating Masque, I have been using this for a while as a face masque and I really love it. A friend of mine recently told me you could use this as a sleep mask. I use just a thin layer instead of a night cream once a week and when I wake up my skin is soft and hydrated. It’s perfect for a Winter boost or if you have been travelling too much, it even fixes my dry cheeks!

I have been using Indeed Labs Fillume cream as a day and night cream, I usually use separate products for morning and evening, but with all the travel it was more convenient to use just one product. I absolutely love this cream. It comes out the top when you press the lid and the amount it gives you is the exact amount you need. It soaks in fast and feels light, yet it hydrates, nourishes and leaves my skin looking healthy with that ‘plumped-up’ feel. My boyfriend has been tucking into this cream too and he commented on how much he loves it just this morning. Another great addition to the Indeed Labs family!

I have written about this Dermalogica’s Multivitamin Power Firm many times as I love it. Both my boyfriend and I love this product and we take it in turns to buy new tubes. We use it pretty lavishly as not only do we use it on our eyes, but also the little lines around our mouths. I once caught him putting it on his forehead wrinkles and I got upset that he was using too much. If you are looking for an incredible eye cream to use morning and night, I can’t recommend this one enough. It’s the best I have ever used!

I never use washing up gloves, so my hands tend to get quite dry and rough. Recently I have been using Lanolips Anti-bacterial Hand Cream which has really helped combat my dry skin. Lanolin comes from the wool of sheep and it is a great natural moisturiser, I try and avoid parabens where possible, so lanolin is a great alternative. This hand cream kills 99.9% of germs, which is great, especially in dirty ol’ London. It soaks in fast and leaves skin silky smooth and soft!

All Purpose

I love to carry around a small pot of all-purpose cream and Egyption Magic is my current favourite. I first heard about this miracle product a few years ago, I loved the packaging and it sounded amazing, but I never took the plunge. I shouldn’t have waited so long, it is pretty awesome! Some people use it on eczema or psoriasis, others use it as a hair oil/conditioner, face cleanser, face cream… The list is pretty endless. Personally, I have kept it in my handbag and I use it on my hands and cuticles, lips and any other dry areas; like heels, elbows etc. It’s one of those all rounder beauty products which is a bit of a handbag essential.

Admittedly, I haven’t used Dermalogica’s Sun Protection since Bali, but in case you missed it first time round, I just wanted to give it another mention. I still can’t believe I was in Bali for a week and never got even a patch of sunburn due to this sun cream. I can burn in minutes when I am in hot, sunny climates and they don’t come much more tropical than Bali. I am completely bowled over by how good this sun protection is. If you have fair skin like me (and even if you don’t) you need this for your next holiday!
