A few weeks ago, I got engaged and I couldn’t be happier. I have a lovely boyfriend and a beautiful ring and it feels like a really exciting time in my life! With Valentines day around the corner, you would think I would be thrilled at the chance to celebrate love, but even now, I’m still a Valentines cynic.
Only in Movies
For me, Valentines day is kind of a trite event, it feels like a lot of forced flower shopping and it doesn’t really have much soul. Obviously I enjoy any excuse to buy yourself gifts and take advantage of special offers on beauty treats. While I believe in Christmas miracles, I don’t believe in Valentines miracles, despite what happens on TV shows!
For the BFF
When I was single, my friend used to always surprise me with a card from a strange man; maybe the friendly local hobo or a slightly inappropriate window cleaner. Every year, a funny card would arrive from a creepy man and she would always claim she had nothing to do with it. It was always a really sweet game and it made Valentines day really fun! This year I feel like it’s my turn and I am super excited about surprising some of my best friends with a few little treats.
If you want to surprise your gal pal with a little Valentines day treat, here are some cute suggestions of lovely little things all costing around £20.
