I have never been a big fan of Valentines day, in my opinion it is a pretty trite celebration / Holiday. While TV shows make it seem magical, in reality, I never had a tall, dark, handsome stranger proclaiming their love for me in a hugely romantic way, nor did I come home to my doorstep covered in roses from an old friend I had always been secretly in love with. The reality of Valentines day is overpriced flowers, no cards in the post and fully booked restaurants.
Whether you are single, married or living with a partner, Valentines Day is a great excuse to buy yourself a whole load of beauty products. Some brands launch new items, some do great deals and sometimes, it’s just nice to buy yourself a luxurious treat!
Here are my favourite treats for Valentines Day pampering!
Sabon: Rose Bath Ball
Nothing is more luxurious than a long, hot bath! Why use average bubble bath when you can use Sabon Rose Bath Balls. Made from dead sea salts, essential oils and rose petals. Not only will these make you feel worth a million dollars, but they will fill your whole flat with the scent of roses!
Aromatherapy Associates
It’s no secret I am a huge fan of anything rose scented, but at this time of year my obsession goes into over-drive as there are just so many amazing rose scented products on the market. This Rose Body Cream by Aromatherapy Associates could not be any more luxurious. It is so beautiful, it is rich and velvety, it leaves your skin nourished, moisturised and oh-so-soft and it smells incredible. I love using it before bed, it’s so relaxing and the scent lingers on my sheets.
Benefit Rock-itude
Shopping is a different kind of pampering and for me, Benefit is a bit of a treat purchase! I don’t really need any more make-up, but I just love buying Benefit, I love their products and I go crazy over their packaging. This Rock-itude set is the perfect treat to buy yourself (or your single best friend if you are feeling generous!) it includes so many amazing mini’s; Benetint, High Beam, Rockateur Blusher and Lipgloss. All iconic, all essential and all the perfect size to pop in your handbag!
Espa Optimal Skin ProSerum
After a hard day at work, there is nothing better than taking off all your make-up and using a fabulous face serum! I love smoothing it over my skin and feeling instantly nourished and hydrating, before sealing it in with a night cream. ESPA is predominately a Spa brand, I first discovered their products when having treatments and when I got home I did research to see what I could buy. I have never found an ESPA product I didn’t adore and this ProSerum is one of my favourites!
Annick Goutal ‘Eau Du Ciel’
This is not the first time I have shared my love of Annick Goutal and I know it won’t be the last either. This French perfumery makes the most beautiful scents! Their new scent ‘Eau Du Ciel’ is a real winner, it is a blend of linden tea, rosewood, iris and beeswax. This jasmine and honey, it’s sweet, floral and beautiful. I really believe perfume is important for happiness and well-being, if you smell good, you feel good and this scent is pure joy!
Neom Organics ‘Complete Bliss’
I like to burn scented candles around the clock in the colder months, as I believe they help fight the Winter blues! While a single wick candle is good, a luxury three-wick soy wax scented candle is even better! Soy candles are much better for you than paraffin wax candles and the three wicks are incredible for filling the room fast with scent. Neom Organics do some amazing scented candles and Complete Bliss is my current favourite. It is scented a rich, modern rose scent and the perfect gift to buy yourself! Who needs a boyfriend when you have Complete Bliss?
Jewels
When Carrie Bradshaw worked out (roughly) how much she had spent on shoes over the last decade, she got scared. That’s exactly how I feel about jewellery! My motto when it comes to jewellery is, ‘if you like it, buy it!’, which is exactly my advice when it comes to treating yourself this valentines day! Buy the jewels, isn’t this ring by JM by Julien Macdonald dreamy? It’s a beautiful big cocktail ring and it sparkles like there’s no tomorrow!
Unicorn Queen
While jewels, perfumes and skin care is always lovely, sometimes you want to cosy up in a over-sized knit. This ASOS Unicorn jumper ticks all the boxes; it’s over-sized, beautiful colours and super special print. Be a unicorn queen in this special knit!
Pink Pampering
If you are a little limited in budget but still want to be pampered, then look no further than Soap & Glory! Their products smell like a dream and work a treat! I love their Endless Glove hand cream and their Clean On Me Shower gel smells like milk and honey in the mornings! Also, if you are surprising your single BFF with a Valentines day treat, Soap & Glory is the ultimate girly indulgence!
Eyeko Eyeliner
Big eyes, big hair, big lips. That’s the key to looking Glam! Start with the eyes and grab yourself Eyeko’s liner and mascara for cat eye’s. Well, if it’s good enough for Alexa Chung, it’s good enough for me! It’s always nice to have a new liner and mascara and this set is a real winner!
Will you be treating yourself this Valentines day?

I can’t say I agree. I think every single Holiday that has ever been created, whatever the original intent, is now over-commercialized and promoted by companies trying to make money. But it’s never about that if you don’t want it to be. What you do, who you do it with, and why you do it–that’s what makes a holiday anything special (or not).
Just like you can enjoy anything–it’s how you perceive it. Like fashion, for instance! I’m sure many people could argue the same points to fashion, and buying clothes for the sake of fashion (versus need). Companies certainly try to make clothes seem to be and do more than they actually do. However, why you enjoy it, and what you enjoy is based on so many more things than just “need”. I think it’s part your decision on what it is, and sometimes other influences we have in society. I think in moderation, these influences are positive–society is a part of our identity like geography, genetics, and more are. As long as we don’t get too wrapped up and can see through all the fluff, I think Holidays are a fun entertainment and celebration for people.
