New Perfume: Penhaligon’s ‘Ostara’

New Perfume Penhaligons Ostara uk fashion blog

A new Penhaligon’s perfume launch is something to get excited about. They never fail to deliver a beautiful new scent with a great concept.

Daffodils

It is the humble daffodil which inspired Penhaligon’s Ostara. A sprouting Daffodil is the first sign that Spring is on it’s way. I think we all have childhood memories related to daffodils, for a lot of us they were the first flowers we ever bought our Mother on her birthday or mother’s day. We all love daffodils because they are sunny, fresh and beautiful.

While the daffodil flower has a beautiful scent, it is very hard to capture the essence of a daffodil and put it in a perfume. Somehow Penhaligon’s and master perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour have managed it by using a healthy amount of Narcissus, which smells very similar.

What does it smell like?

Top Notes: Clementine, Bergamot, Red Berries, Juniper, Spearmint, Blackcurrant bud.

Heart Notes: Hyacinth, Narcissus, Beeswax, Cyclamen, Ylang Ylang, Hawthawn.

Base Notes: Vanilla, Benzoin, Amber, White Wood.

This perfume is released in March 2015, so why give your mum a bunch of daffodils this Mother’s Day when you could give her Penhaligon’s Ostara instead?
