I love shopping on Etsy! I often blog about the cool things I have bought on there, as well as the things I want to buy on there and cool designers I have discovered through the marketplace. It’s just such a great place to find so many cool things, anything you can imagine you just type in the words and see what you find. I love it so much, I have even made a Pinterest board of my favourite Etsy things!
I recently went to an Etsy fashion showcase and I met one of their UK based makers, Minetta. Each Etsy maker has a small scale studio where they make everything they sell. I thought it might be fun to show a glimpse into the workspace and craftsmanship of an Etsy designer.
Minetta jewellery is really pretty, it is all very simple, delicate and made of silver or gold. Many of the pieces are personalised with tiny letters, numbers or symbols which are hammered into the silver or gold. You can choose between a bar, circle, diamond or tear drop shape.
Once you have selected a shape of your pendant, you then have to choose what you would like on the pendant. On the smaller shapes you can only really fit one letter or symbol on it. On the bars you can fit a word or numbers to make up a date. I personally loved the bars and I was tempted to get a special date on it, but instead I went for a tiny little circle. My initial thought was to get a ‘K’, but there was something about the cuteness of the arrow which made me want to select that shape instead. The pendant is carefully mounted onto a stand, the letter is lined up and hammed to imprint the shape into the pendant.
Ta Da! It’s ready! What do you think of my Minetta necklace? Have you ever bought anything on Etsy?
