#Treatday
Tuesdays are Treatday for myself and Adorn Girl! It is our one day of the week where we dine, drink and gossip! Over the past few weeks, we have had pit-stop sandwiches, afternoon teas and Chinese comfort food. We love to dine in style, wherever in London it takes us! This week we went somewhere very special, we had afternoon tea at the beautiful One Aldwych Hotel and it was Charlie & the Chocolate Factory themed. Fabulous right?!
Charlie & the Chocolate Factory
One Aldwych Hotel have teamed up with the West End’s most fabulous musical, Charlie & the Chocolate factory to create a very special themed afternoon tea. Think scrumdiddlyumptious sandwiches, cakes and even a bespoke cherry champagne cocktail. When we heard about this limited edition afternoon tea, we knew we had to try it out!
Classic Sandwiches
While the cakes are cream filled and served with a side of candy floss, the sandwiches are kept classic; roast beef, smoked salmon, egg and quiche. The perfect way to start this super fun afternoon tea. As of the scones, they are classic too, and there is a rather lovely blueberry brioche too. Both of which are served with cream and blueberry jam; Blueberries, because that’s what Violet Beauregarde turned into after she ate the gum!
Cheer Up, Charlie
Oh my word! This Afternoon tea is so much fun! I could barely stop smiling the whole time, Ashanti is so much fun she makes me laugh non-stop, couple that will the the eton mess, cake pops, golden eggs, dry-ice cherry champagne cocktail, cocoa bean financier, sandwiches, chocolate milk and candy floss. It’s a fun little step into the world of Charlie and the Chocolate factory and you can eat everything you see!
‘Daddy, I want a goose that lays a golden egg’
Something I never expected to see in front of me, was a chocolate egg filled with vanilla cheesecake and mango purée joy, frosted in gold. Just like the golden eggs Veruca Salt asked her daddy for. Instead of being dropped down a shaft with the bad eggs, we dug deep with our spoons and polished off these good eggs!
Candy Floss
I have never been presented with a stick of candy floss at an afternoon tea before. Can you guess what flavour it is? Rhubarb! The taste of rhubarb is so nostalgic and the tartness of the rhubarb is perfectly balanced with the sweetness of the candy floss. So much fun!
Thanks for having us One Aldwych Hotel, we loved your Charlie & the Chocolate Factory afternoon tea!
Oh my goodness! I thought my afternoon tea this weekend was superb, but this is the most magical afternoon tea I have seen in all my 25 years. How spectacular? It reminds me of Heston Blumenthal’s creations too. Absolutely wonderful!
