Country Girl

I may live in London now, but this has not always been the case, I grew up in the countryside and my mum spends half her life in Jodhpurs. I rode horses too when I was younger and so did my sister, in fact, even my dad is a keen rider!

Riding Attire

Both my mum and sister own Lavenham jackets, they are the best as they are so warm and comfortable. Those who ride know that it can get pretty chilly on horseback in the Winter, you use your thigh and core muscles mostly and when your horse is walking, it isn’t long before you notice how cold it is. Lavenham jackets keep you cosy because the brand started out making horse rugs. Their quilted nylons and wools are made to withstand the wind and the rain and keep both you and your horse warm, no matter what the weather is!

Cropton Ladies Toggle Jacket

My sister has Cropton Ladies Toggle Jacket with Sherpa lining. It is the perfect shape for horsing riding; the back slits give you the movement you need, while the sleeves are long enough to cover your wrists when your arms are outstretched holding the reigns. The pockets are deep enough to hold all your necessities (most ladies don’t carry a handbag while on horseback) and the hood is the perfect fit to keep your ears covered and your head warm.

Quality and Style

Lavenham have a great selection of womens and mens jackets and gilets to choose from. Some styles are more classic equestrian styles, while others are a little more fashionable. In the past they have used Liberty cloth in their collection and they are currently working with Fred Perry. The Cropton Ladies Toggle Jacket is from the Lavenham A/W14 collection, it has all the benefits of a classic Lavenham jacket, with a few extra details which make it a little more fashionable. I love the horn toggles, the terracotta check and the slightly exposed sherpa lining. Perfect for horse riding, but also a great jacket to wear with jeans and boots on a cold Winter’s day around town!

Okay I don’t ride but I love, love that jacket. I think there’s a really good reason why equestrian style permeates everyday fashion, it’s just so classic!
