A few months ago when I was in New York I popped into the Annick Goutal store on Bleecker street. It’s ironic as Annick Goutal is a French brand and I go to Paris a lot, it is also sold in Liberty in London (again, somewhere I go often) so it is funny to discover the brand while I was in New York.
I went in store with my boyfriend, we had a good sniff around and both of us found fragrances we liked. For me, a classic rose scent and him a more masculine amber oud style scent. We were heading towards the end of our holiday and buying two new bottles of perfume seemed a little ridiculous, especially considering how much we had spent over the last week in New York. We didn’t buy the perfumes, but we both left with a little on our skin to consider and see how it lingered. We both fell in love with out perfumes throughout the day and never made it back to Bleecker Street to buy the perfumes. The following week, we were back on home soil we both decided we needed a bottle of Annick Goutal. One for him, one for me.
So, here we have it, two bottles of perfume by the French perfumer Annick Goutal, which we discovered in New York and finally got in London.
For him; Ambre Fétiche, the scent is rich, warm masculine. It’s smokey, spicy, sweet and rich; Incense, Labdanum, Benzoin, Iris absolute, Vanilla, Geranium, Patchouli It’s a beautiful scent which is like nothing else he has and he really loves it!
For me; Ce Soir ou Jamais, a more feminine scent. One of the signature fragrances of the brand, filled with Turkish Rose, Ambrette seed, a blend of 160 secret ingredients. It smells like a dream and I adore it! It seems my rose perfume addiction will never fade and this is a real favourite of mine!
I feel like we travelled half way around the world and found these perfumes when we could have just hoped on the central line and found them, but somehow this makes it so much more special! Next time you see Annick Goutal perfume, make sure you have a good smell of the range, it is a dream!
