Wearing a scarf, to the Scarfes bar!

Sometimes when I’m in town and have done a bit of shopping, there is nothing I want more than a long, relaxing lunch in a fabulous restaurant. Occasionally you find a little hidden gem and it’s just the best feeling ever!

Today I popped into town to check out some of the A/W14 pieces which are starting to make their way on to the shop floor. I popped to Mulberry, Miu Miu, Swarovski, Selfridges and Liberty. We went through Covent Garden and stopped for lunch at the Scarfes Bar at the Rosewood London Hotel. The hotel has been recently revamped, I knew it was fabulous as I have been in a few suites and rooms for press days, but I had not ventured into the Scarfes bar before. It is Fabulous, the decoration was somewhere between a English country estate library and a gentleman’s club. The tables are spacious with soft lighting and there are leather and plush velvet chairs and cushions everywhere, as well as a rather fabulous wood fire. It is super relaxing and felt a million miles away from the craziness of Central London.

Our waitress was extreemly friendly and able to advise us on our choices. We skipped starters and went straight in for mains. My man ordered a cheeseburger and I ordered the club sandwich, we both ordered a side of fries, because I don’t share chips!

It’s hard to describe the food at Scarfes Bar, it is like a British pub for the wealthy, with a twist. They serve up perfect portions, beautifully presented and made using top quality ingredients. It also has some surprises, my club sandwich was only two layers of bread, with pulled pork, chicken tikka and tomato chutney, oh! and a fried egg on top! It sounds a little crazy, but it was incredible and the perfect size. The burger was incredible too, served with fries and cooked to your taste. If you are trying to decide between the fries and triple cooked chips, go for the chips, we both preferred them!

Since we skipped starters, we had a little room left for desert! I obviously picked the sticky toffee pudding, as it is one of my all time favourite deserts. It was served warm with clotted cream and had sticky dates on top. So good! My man picked the Cheese cake, which was pretty incredible. It had intense flavours, a delicious cherry coulis and pistachio ice cream… incredible!

My friends told me Scarfes is one of the best cocktail bars in London, so I thought we should have a lunchtime tipple. My cocktail was fruity and delicious, which left me a little tipsy! My man had a house lager which is made in Edinburgh especially for them; again, delicious!

The lovely thing about Scarfes Bar, is that it is tucked away in one of London’s top hotels, the Rosewood London. It is beautiful inside and out and while it is a stones throw from Oxford Circus and Covent Garden, it is peaceful, comfortable and relaxing. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable, especially when considering the beautiful venue!

What to wear to Scarfes Bar? I wore a simple black dress, Chanel Scarf, black flats and a vintage tartan jacket, with simple bracelets from Swarovski and Lulu Winter. The general dress code was smart casual. I didn’t feel overdressed, nor underdressed. There were men wearing jeans and a shirt, as for the women they were wearing simple, chic jumpers and skirts, or trousers and a jumper.

If you are looking for a new central London fabulous lunch venue, give Scarfes Bar a try, it is fabulous!
