Last Friday was fabulous! I headed to Soho for the launch for Christian Louboutin Beauté, a collection of amazing nail polishes by the iconic accessories brand.
I have literally never been so excited by a nail polish launch, there is so much to love about this range. First of all, it was actually nail polish that inspired the iconic red sole of the shoes. In 1992, Christian Louboutin had drawn a shoe he adored, he thought it was perfect on paper, but felt there was something missing from the prototype. He was staring at the shoe and trying to figure out what was missing as his assistant sat painting her nails. He took the pot of red nail polish and painted the sole and so the red sole was born!
The hero product of the collection is of course the Rouge. The shade matches the iconic soles, the bottle is designed to look like a crystal, while the lid looks like a spiked heel. The polish is suspended inside so it seems to float and the black to red ombre effect references the classic shoes perfectly. The bottle is huge, the cap of it the exact same hight as the Ballerina Ultima heel, which is part of a collaboration with David Lynch. The campaign shots are all by David Lynch too. While all the bottles are large, Rouge stands taller. This is the polish to sit on your dressing table. It is designed to be an art object with the perfect shade and texture of red polish inside. Each polish is named after an iconic shoe or bag which relates to the polish colour.
There are three nail polish collections within Beauté:
The Pops, beautiful bright colours. Perfect tones of bright colours with a silver cap.
The Noirs, intense blacks, browns and greens. Dark and mysterious with a gunmetal cap.
The Nudes, vanilla, rose and chocolates. Soft nudes with a rose gold cap.
Rouge Stands alone from these collections and stands taller with a black glossy lid.
You won’t find Christian Louboutin Beauté on the beauty floor, they will always be displayed with the shoes in Loubiville, just like it is displayed in the photos.
To go along side the launch of these beautiful nail polishes, there is a new capsule collection of shoes. My favourite has to be these beautiful stilettos with hands printed all over, the illustrations are so beautiful and delicate.
There are also so pretty fierce slouch boots and heels with raised nail shapes on, these come in pink and red, as well as black and gold!
While I was at the event, I was treated to a manicure using Rouge Louboutin, the colour is perfect, the cover was amazing with just one coat and the finish is glossy and fabulous. After a few days of wearing it, it still looks amazing! Out now on christianlouboutin.com.
I never normally take *this* many photos, but it was too hard to resist, it was such a beautiful venue, the polishes are stunning and so are the shoes! Enjoy!
I’d love to see a swatch. I suppose thinking of it as a work of art makes the price tag less jaw dropping. Did they mention of there would be other beauty items coming?
So I love your blog. I basically covet everything you post, lol. I enjoy the photos and I love the content. I nom
