I wanted to share with you all some of my favourite fashion and beauty items of 2013. It has been a bit of a crazy year, and I feel like when I look at it all in one go I have maybe bought a few too many things, but whats life without some pretty things you love?!
This year I was given my dream bag, it was for my 30th birthday and it is a Classic Chanel 2.55 handbag, and in a fabulous shade of green! I saw it in February in Paris and feel in love with it. I was still thinking about it in June when was given it by my boyfriend. It was rather a generous gift, but oh my it is beautiful and I adore it! I know it would have been a more sensible purchase in black leather, but the heart wants what it wants!
This year I have also gone completely nuts over Meadham Kirchhoff, being an old school Hole fan, I feel like they are kindred spirits, they mix everything I love and make it even more amazing than I could possibly dream. I spent my youth wearing tiara’s, baby doll dresses, peter pan collars, reading fanzines, listening to Hole and Babes in Toyland and carrying customised lunch boxes! Meadham Kirchhoff are right up my street and I love what that do! This year saw the launch of two affordable collaborations and I went nuts for the both. First of all, their range of scarves which they did with Amazon. They did four exclusive designs, they are all beautiful big silk scarves with handrolled edges. The quality of them is beautiful, the prints are stunning and they are just lovely, lovely items at a really great price. I loved these scarves so much I ended up getting three of them, I just couldn’t help myself! In fact, I am crazy tempted to buy the fourth. It seems silly not to have the full set! They still have some left, so if you are interested, buy one soon before they sell out!
I also went CRAZY over the Meadham Kirchhoff X Topshop range, I couldn’t wait for it to come out, I set my alarm on the day of the launch and I ended up buying nothing. It was all so hectic and hard to choose, I got nothing!!! However, I ended up sourcing the sold out furry bag, so I got that. I also bought the Monster Jumper and a hole heap of other items when it went on sale a few days ago, including the Rainbow Babydoll dress, heart pinafore playsuit and I may still buy the fur trim skirt too! My sister also bought loads of pieces too. Obsessive? Yes, a little!
In 2012, I dreamed of buying the Charlotte Olympia Kitty Flats, so in 2013, I actually took the plunge and bought them! I figured if I had bought them in 2012 when I first wanted them, I would have had a whole extra year of enjoyment out of them! I am so pleased I bought them, I love them! They look great with everything and they are comfortable and make me really happy! Are they worth the money? Yes. Are they practical? Yes. Is the satin durable? Yes. These shoes are lovely, I am so pleased I bought them!
I bought my first piece of Katie Mullally jewellery in 2012, but it really became a wardrobe staple in 2013. I have worn so many of her pieces and adored them all! From the Peg to the Wishbone, they have made me very happy! I love her beautifully hallmarked charm necklaces!
Another jewellery company I have loved is Pearl & Queenie, I first fell in Love with the Longhorn necklace, which is a really cool necklace, but I also love their more romanic pieces, such as the Pearls, Circle of Love and Coral Rose necklace.
In terms of beauty products, this year I have been loving HealGel, it is a new brand and I absolutely love their products. I have also really loved Balance Me, their British made, natural products are brilliant and I have particually enjoyed the face oil, rose otto hand cream and stellar balm. I have also loved the This Works turbo balm and deep sleep night oil. Dermalogica’s multivitamin power firm eye cream is still the best eye cream I have ever used. If I could only use one eye cream for the rest of my life, I think this would be the one! I love it! Make-up wise, I have been loving Wild About Beauty’s line and define eye liner and Pur Minerals powder compact. Hair wise, it has been all about Bumble & Bumble, I love their shampoo, conditioner and styling products.
My favourite perfumes this year have been Jo Malone London’s Wild Fig and Cassis Cologne and Penhaligon’s Cornubia. I’m not really into floral perfumes, both these fragrances are rich, warm and woody. I love them both and it is so hard to choose between them!
It sounds nuts, but I feel like in 2013, I have worn a lot of gold. From small pieces of gold jewellery like the Alex Monroe Bee necklace, to larger pieces in gold by Mawi, it just seems to have been my metal colour of choice. I have worn my gold Vivienne Westwood bag a lot, and had any gold hardwear I can find. I am also massively in love with my Bebaroque tights which have gold embellishment all over.
Earlier this year I was really into neon colours, I was wearing a neon yellow jumper and a neon pink just pretty much every day, I couldn’t get enough of it! When my love of neon died down, I seemed to get hooked on hologram material. I was obsessed with the Miista Zoe Brogues in hologram, which the time were sold out everywhere. I got my hands on them, and I keep my eyes out for anything hologram and oil slick!
I painted my nails a lot this year, in fact, I painted them so much I think I was addicted to it! Then I got fed up of them chipping, so I stopped doing it so frequently. I love having colourful nails, I love layering up glitter top coats too!
This year I have had a lot of fun with colour and accessories! I have lusted after a whole heap of items and bought a small selection of them! I have supported a lot of new brands, and I’m always on the look out for new designers and makers! Thanks for following my blog and everyone’s support and feedback, it’s been a lot of fun and it’s really cool that people actually read my blog and buy things I blog about!
Happy new year!
