So, one of my new years blog resolutions was to do a ‘monthly favourites’ post every. single. month! I don’t wanna toot my own horn, but I actually did it! Whoop Whoop!! Without further a-do, here are my December Favourites and also, HAPPY NEW YEAR! It still blows my mind so many of you read my blog, so thank you so much and I’m planning some super fun posts for you this year, just you wait!!
Make Instagram Your Business Book
This kind of blows my mind! A few months ago, I got an email from digital extraordinaire Sedge Beswick. She told me she was working on a book and she would love to feature me in it, I couldn’t believe my eyes! I answered some questions, sent over some images and tried my hardest to forget about it because I didn’t want to get too excited because it seemed way too good to be true! And then the book came out and there I was!! Eek!!!! If you fancy getting a copy, you can get one at Amazon and it’s filled with amazing images and informations on 100 fabulous influencers. I still can’t believe I made the cut!!
Roja Christmas Candle
I am a hugeeeee fan of Roja perfumes, I love their fragrances and candles so much it makes my heart hurt!!! Actually, to be specific, it makes my heart hurt when my boyfriend burns the candles when I’m not in, I want to enjoy all the precious burn time the candle holds! This Christmas Roja made a capsule collection of festive candles, I still can’t decide which one is my favourite, but I am currently burning down the red one (which is stunning!), leaving the green one for mid-jan when it will feel more like Narnia; cold, wintery and without Christmas!
This month I have been mainly binge listening to the podcast Here’s The Thing by Alec Baldwin. I have been recommended this SO many times but I wasn’t sure if I would be interested in it as I haven’t really seen the big AB in anything except his cameo in Friends (remember that?!). However, I absolutely love this podcast, he has such interesting guests from politics, theatre and film, and he’s such a good interviewer. I’ve also been listening to The Vanity Fair Diaries by Tina Brown on Audible, but I’m struggling to get into it, I’m still fairly near the beginning so I need to listen to a few more chapters I think!
Philosophy Christmas Cookie Shower Gel
Damnnnn! This smells SO good!!! I’m talking about the Philosophy Christmas Cookie Shower Gel, it smells like vanilla, butter, cinnamon and just warm cookie deliciousness!!!! I’m such a teenager when it comes to sweet, playful shower gels and this is the creme de la creme! I’m not sure if you can still get this in store but if you can find a bottle anywhere, grab it and don’t let it go!
When left unattended, I will spend excessive amounts on rainbow shaped doormats. Turns out I could have bought a plain brown one on amazon for about £2, but no, I spent £32 on a rainbow one instead. However, in my mind, it’s money well spent… is this not the cutest doormat you have ever seen!?!?! It’s also far too pretty to wipe my feet on, but I’ll cross that bridge when it next starts to rain!
This Christmas my sister gave me the most beautiful gift, a painting from her Goldsmiths degree show. She’s an incredible painter, she’s worked on some amazing projects and she currently works part time with a VERY notable artist as well as teaching at a university, so this is such an amazing gift. I can’t wait to get it hunt up in our snug!
Nip + Fab Liquid Highlighters
It was Jane from British Beauty Blogger who told me that once you get to a certain age, it’s better to stick with liquid highlighters so you don’t get in danger of the powder sitting in your wrinkles. I often think of her when I’m applying my liquid highlighters and I have to agree, liquid and cream highlighters often work better for me. This one one from Nip + Fab has caught my attention lately, it comes in three shades, it’s absolutely stunning the amount of glow it gives, it’s just the nicest tone, super light weight and it reminds me a lot of the Iconic highlighters, but almost a third of the price. If you are looking for a new liquid highlighter, or even if you’re not, I’m recommending this one! Shade wise, I’m pale, so I love the light gold.
In terms of self care, I have been having a LOT of lovely baths this month, warm relaxing baths filled with essential oils and skin goodness. It really helps to relax me and give me a damned good nights sleep. This month I have been using mostly Kinn Organic bath oil and the matching body oil, it’s super soothing, totally organic and it smells like a flippin’ dream!
I have bought this Caramel Spread in the past and I loved it, but when the previous jar finished, we couldn’t seem to find anywhere to rebuy it. It wasn’t in any of our local supermarkets and it just seemed to be this delicious treat that came and went into our lives as quickly as you could say ‘Crumpets!’. Then last week I was in (cough) Poundland and I saw a whole flippin’ shelf of them! I promptly bought two jars and went back the next day to buy some more!! So good! PS. It’s best served on toasted crumpets with a few slices of banana on top… #ThankMeLater
I love exchanging gifts at christmas time! I’m always so happy when I nail it! My dad loved his new dog lead and wellies, my mum loves her pyjamas and sunglasses, as for my boyfriend and I, well, we will have just bought ourselves a kitchen, so no gifts for us this year, unless you count cupboard knobs and a cooker as a christmas gift! As for this adorable Yoshi Bag, thanks for my friend Sam who takes a lot of my photos, she’s the biggest Yoshi handbag fan you’ll ever find! Isn’t it adorable!? One day I will buy myself the custard cream bag!
December saw me rocking the dress of my dreams from Boohoo… isn’t it lush!? I love the shape of it, the heavy needlework and the black base. Such a steal of a price too! Read the full outfit post here and if you want one for yourself, you can get one here.
This month I have obviously watched the classics; Home Alone, Miracle on 34th Street (twice), Oliver (twice)…. I mean it’s Christmas, right?! However, aside from the heart warming children’s film, I have LOVED The Sinner. Shout out to Tennessee from Margate Post Office for insisting I watch it. He was right, it’s AMAZING!! If you haven’t watched it already, it’s on Netflix and it’s so good!!
Coach X Selena Handbag
Still one of my favourite handbags, it is, of course the Coach X Selena handbag. I LOVE it! Perfectly smart, fabulously practical and despite me being super clumsy, it still looks new, which is amazing because it’s flippin’ cream coloured!!! I wear this bag all the time and I can’t recommend it enough!
Instyler Hair Stylers
I’m totally between hair cuts right now, I seem to be constantly trimming my own fringe (which I’m REALLY bad at!) and I can’t decide if I should get a ‘Lob’ again or try and grow my hair a little longer… it’s a tough choice! Thankfully my InStyler hair tool has been exactly what I have needed to keep my hair from looking too hellish of late. It’s one of the easiest tools to use and it’s perfect for those of us who want a little smoothing, a little wave and as little fuss as possible! Big fan over here!
So, there we have it, my December favourites! Who knows what 2018 will bring!!!
