I am always on the hunt for beautiful violet-based perfumes, but unfortunately, they are hard to find. I keep predicting a violet-ressurgence, but it hasn’t quite happened yet. I’m not sure if it’s wishful thinking or if I’m too ahead of the curve… I guess only time will tell! Luckily for me, there is a new violet fragrance in town and it’s a real gooden! My friends, let me introduce you to Berdoues Violette. Firstly, forget everything you think you know about violets, push aside all the old lady, palma violets connotations and instead think about the beautiful, soft, sweet, powdery floral with a unique scent and a vintage haze. The citrus at the top of the fragrance gives it a fresh, uplifting scent which gives it a modern edge. The orris at the heart of the fragrance amplifies the scent of violet and adds a little woody, earthiness to the fragrance, alongside the patchouli. It’s a simple fragrance in terms of it’s composition, but it’s the simplicity which makes it so special. I do find myself reapplying this one, as violet isnt the best when it comes to longevity, but that is normal for all violet perfumes. Berdoues Violette is a soft, sweet, fabulous floral with a hint of uplifting citrus and woodsy goodness, it oozes vintage charm for a modern day starlet. Violet lovers like me, will adore this one! PS. The atomiser spritz makes putting on perfume all the more fabulous!!
Berdoues ‘Violette’ is available at Harvey Nichols and is priced at £110 for a 100ml bottle.
