The Summer Perfume Edit
Hello My friends! I’m not gonna ramble on too much here, because it’s starting to turn into a bit of a whopper of a post already, but… I just wanted to compile a little edit of some great summer perfumes. Many of them are new, some of them are classics, but all of them are lovely! As much as I adore heavy red roses, oud, amber and incense based fragrances, they just tend to be too heavy for the summer months. Instead, these fragrances cut through the sticky summer heat and feel fabulous and breezy in the high-summer heat!
Tory Burch ‘Love Relentlessly’
OK, let’s go!! Here’s a perfume that dropped through my letter box and made me oh-so-happy as soon as I spritzed it! Tory Burch Love Relentlessly is a slice of sensual, fruity-floral fun, it contains notes of Pink Pepper, Pink Grapefruit, Lemon, Pear, Raspberry, Lychee, Rose, Orris, Jasmine, Patchouli, Amber and Sandalwood. I think it’s the spicy pink pepper and zesty grapefruit which gives it the edge I love, it’s adds a touch of mystery and excitement to what is otherwise a really pretty summery perfume. If you haven’t smelt this already, it’s time you do!
Estee Lauder ‘Bronze Goddess’
Ah, this perfume is one of my forever favourites! I still have a tiny amount left from last years bottle and a few drops from the year before. I never want the bottle to end, so I always end up saving a tiny bit for a rainy, winter’s day when I really need to smell sunshine! Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess is an essential summer perfume, it smells like the perfect day; Sun-drenched Bergamot, warm Amber, Tiare Blossom and Vanilla, all bathed in delicious creamy Coconut. It’s just wonderful!
Annick Goutal ‘L’ile au Thé’
If you are looking for something refreshing and unique, then perhaps Annick Goutal L’ile au Thé could be the one for you! It’s really beautiful, it’s inspired by tea, so it’s bergamot heavy, along with notes of Mandarin, Osmanthus flowers and White musk. It’s refreshing like iced tea and oh-so-unusual as a fragrances, yet super familiar as a scent!
Issey Miyake ‘L’Eau d’Issey Summer’
If you love you fragrances a little more soft, airy and subtle, then of course, Issey Miyake is a great option! I rarely wear their fragrances any more, as I tend to favour heavier richer scents these days, but I wore this ALL THE TIME when I was younger, I just loved their classic fragrance. Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Summer is a limited edition for Summer 2017 and it contains notes of Grapefruit, Lychee, Passion Fruit, Guava, Pitahaya, Floral Notes and vanilla, it’s so Issey Miyake, if you know what I mean!
Moschino Fresh Pink Couture
Now it’s time for something a little more fun! I know you guys are probably sick of me chatting about Moschino, but damn, this bottle just kills me every time! The fragrance is a classic fruity floral, filled with notes of Pink Grapefruit, Lily of the valley, Cassis, Pomegranate, rose and cedarwood. Moschino Fresh Pink Couture is fun, zesty and has a touch of sweetness to it!
Shay & Blue ‘Amber Rose’
Shay & Blue Amber Rose is a beautiful summer evening fragrance, it contains notes of May Rose, sweet dulce de leche and white amber. It’s pretty special, I love the notes of heady, velvety rose with the sweet caramel and amber tones. It’s a little too rich for the day, but it’s wonderfully lovely for the evening. It’s actually really lovely for all year round, but any excuse to plug this one, because I adore it!
Nina Ricci ‘Luna’
Ah! Another delight for those summer evenings! Nina Ricci Luna is filled with the summery scent of Orange blossom and wild berries, with delightful florals on a bed of caramel, vanilla and sandalwood. It’s warm, addictive, summery and delicious! It’s one of the more youthful fragrances of the edit, but it’s wonderful non-the-less, and I love the fruit shaped bottle so much! FYI, I think this is my favourite ever Nina Ricci fragrance… in case anyone was wondering!
Coach ‘Eau de Toilette’
I’m sure you have all noticed how much I adore Coach clothing and handbags, but I also love their fragrances! Coach Eau de Toilette is a new release for the summer and it contains notes of Pear, Mandarin, Rose, Grapefruit, Sambac, Jasmine, Cedarwood, Musk and Sandalwood. It’s a really pretty fruity-floral perfume, the kind which makes you feel like you want to hop on a train to the seaside to spend the day at the beach wearing your favourite dress and eating ice cream as you watch the ocean sparkle.
Terry de Gunzburg ‘Flagrant Delice’
Terry de Gunzburg Flagrant Delice is an old favourite of mine, so please bare with me if you have heard me talk about this before, but quite frankly, I LOVE it! I am always a fan of fig based fragrances and this one is so special because not only is it filled with the green, milky scent of fig, but it also contains traces of creamy Almond Milk, Bergamot, Red Currant, Mandarin, Tonka Bean and Musk. It’s elegant, alluring and unusual. Also, if you don’t know Terry de Gunzburg, please do investigate her, she’s a legend in the world of beauty, the former Creative Director of YSL and her own make-up line By Terry is sheer brilliance!
Trussardi ‘The Black Rose’
Finally, Trussardi The Black Rose is inspired by the mountains of Saudi Arabia, it contains notes of Taif Roses, Pink Pepper, Vanilla, Patchouli, Musk and Amber. The rose scent is really soft and it has a very powdery, musk tone to it. Whilst it sounds quite a dark, wintery fragrance, it actually has a real translucency to it, which makes it soft, airy and perfect for rose lovers who want something a little lighter for the summer months. It’s exclusive to Harrods, but it’s well worth popping in to check out, I adore this one!
So, there we have it, my summer fragrance edit! I hope you like it and if you have any suggestions of summer perfumes that you love, please do share them with me!
