Oh K Beauty
Talking of cuteness, can we talk about these sweet treats from Oh K? These products are available at ASOS Beauty and Boots to name just a few and they are seriously adorable!!! I have the peach scented hair brush, a panda lip balm and a cat shaped hand cream. Next time I need to buy some stocking fillers or a little birthday treat, I know where I’m heading!
This month, I have had these Gucci Sunglasses pretty much attached to my face pretty much the WHOLE TIME! In fact, one morning I woke up with a blinding headache and despite being in-doors and wearing a onesie, I wore these sunnies because the bright morning sun coming into our kitchen was just too much. Like I said, they have been attached to my face pretty much non-stop. You can see me wearing them in an outfit post here and you can buy yourself a pair here!
Chairs & Cushions
We have spent a lot of time (and money) shopping for homewears lately. Whilst I can’t pretend choosing coffee tables excites me, I do get incredibly animated by the idea of shopping for sofas and chairs, in fact, I’m a little embarrassed to admit that many of them were bought to look good, rather than feel good. Which is ironic as one of my favourite pastimes is ‘sitting’. Anyway, now that we have filled our house with lots of lovely chairs, we are now filling them with lovely cushions which is possibly even more exciting than buying sofas as you can have oodles of fun playing around with colours, prints and textures. These two above are my latest finds, both are from Next, aren’t they lovely!?
Beauty Bakerie ‘So Icy’ Illuminator
Ermmmm how cute is this Beauty Bakerie So Icy Illuminator? It’s packaged to look like a tub of ice cream or cookie dough! You lift the lid and voila! there is a few pin-prick holes where you can access the loose illuminating powder. It’s really sparkly, so while it’s too much for winter, it’s perfect for summer evenings, festivals and glitter junkies. I got mine from ASOS Beauty, I haven’t seen them available anywhere else. Seriously! It’s SO cute it’s giving me a tooth ache!
Hill & Friends Handbag
I can’t even explain how much I love this Hill & Friends Handbag! I have been eyeing up these handbags for a sweet time now and I am beyond happy with it! I love the design, I love the adorable clasp and damn…. that iridescent finish leather is FINEEEEEE! This bag is bringing me so much joy!
Benefit Cosmetics Cheek Parade
I have had my eye on the Benefit Cosmetics Cheek Parade palette for a while now, whilst my head questioned if I needed another 5 blushers in my life (some of which I own the single boxes of) my heart wanted it regardless! I’m a pale girl without killer cheekbones, so do I rely on a
little lot on bronzer to give me contour and blusher to give my cheeks so much needed colour. So did I need this palette? Probably not, but I love it and it makes me happy! Also if you don’t own as many blushers as me, then this as a set is incredible value when you consider the price of each blusher individually.
I’m still listening massively hooked on podcasts, so if anyone has any that they want to recommend to me, please do! I complied a list of great ones here, so please forgive me for any repetition, but this month I have been loving the Rookie Podcast, season 2 of Undisclosed: The Case of Joey Watkins and even though I have only heard one episode of Convicted, I have really high hopes for it and so far, so good!
You know that episode of ‘Friends’ where they throw and catch a ball for 24 hours straight and they don’t want to let Chandler join in because he’s a ‘dropper’. Well that’s me. I have no hand/eye-coordination and it’s not unusual to find me falling over my own feet or see me rubbing my eye because I poked myself in the eyeball when I was moving a hair away from my face. Not cool! Anyway, I have had my iPhone less than 2 years and I’m already on my third screen replacement and this latest one has a big crack in the screen. ARGH! Anyway, in an attempt to drop it less, I now have an i-Ring attached to the back of it. It’s a nifty little movable ring which sticks onto the back of your phone case and lets you slip your index finger through it so even if you drop it, it’s still attached to your finger. It’s a little like having a wrist loop on your camera, it’s so good I wish I had bought one three phone screens ago! I got mine off eBay for £2.50 and I highly recommend it if you are anywhere near as clumsy as I am!
Orla Kiely Portable Charger
So not only do I have cracks in my phone screen but the battery is shot! It will be at 100% at 9am and by 12pm it’s back on charge. On days where I am in London I will have my plug phone charger in my bag and 2 portable chargers with me. Just. In. Case! Well, now I have a new Orla Kiely portable charger which is super cute and so powerful I only need to take this one into town with me. Sometimes it’s the little things which make us happy, am I right?!
Iconic London Highlighter
This was one of those products I spied on instagram and thought ‘I need that’. There are many reasons I love this highlighter, firstly, it’s a liquid, so it sits better on my skin (meaning it doesn’t crack around my wrinkles). Secondly, it makes me strobe like a mofo. Thirdly, it comes in three shades, but this one, Shine, is the palest and it is actually pale enough for us ghostly faced girls. I can’t say enough good things about this Iconic London highlighter, I bloody love it!
Winnie The Pooh Notebook
Earlier this month a whole heap of surprise Winnie The Pooh items dropped through my letter box! As I sifted through the package, it brought back so many memories, I used to love Winnie The Pooh as a child and my mum used to try to convince me I should have honey on my toast because of this cute little bear. It never worked, but I still loved him and piglet. Isn’t this notebook adorable?! It’s perfect for my endless to-do lists!
This month I worked on a lot of cool projects, but one of my favourite has to be this post I created with Amara. Our home renovations are progressing well and we are finally at the stage (with some rooms, not all!) where we can start buying exiting things like light fittings, art, furniture and kitchenwear. I teamed up with Amara to create a spring table which was SO much fun! I loved the pieces I chose and despite it being a relatively simple set up, I can’t believe how effective it was thanks to the beautiful crockery and cutlery!
Skincare wise, I have been terrible this month, I have gone to sleep at least twice with make-up on and I have barely exfoliated or used a mask. I don’t know what to say except…. Worst. Blogger. Ever. However, sometimes, your skincare does the hard work for you and in this case, it really has. I have been using Kiehl’s and despite treating my skin appallingly, it actually looks pretty good. No breakouts, no dry patches, just lazy-girl-effort with good products! Big shout out to the Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil and Pure Vitality Cream, both of which I have loved, the cream is so rich and sumptuous, it’s perfect for my tired old skin and makes a great night cream! As for the cleansing oil, it’s light on the skin, effective at cleansing and smells like a dream. Possibly the most lush cleansing oil I have ever used!
This month I have been obsessed with a fair few perfumes, namely Jo Malone London Star Magnolia and Miller Harris Lê Cedre and Etro ManRose. The latter, ManRose is very special to me and I couldn’t let the month pass without raving about it! As you might have guessed, ManRose has been designed with men in mind, and whilst it is filled with masculine leathery, smoky and peppery notes, it also contains a heavy hit of rose, which makes it very desirable for us ladies too. As we all know, I’m a huge fan of rich red rose fragrances, but I also adore unisex fragrances too, Etro ManRose is like the perfect fusion of the two. It’s a complex oriential filled with notes of Turkish Rose, pepper, cardamom, geranium, incense, patchouli, vetiver, musk, amber, leather and precious woods. It’s rich with roses, spicy, citrus, leather and amber at the base. I love it for me, but men, take notice, this could be one for you to look out for too!
ghd Wanderlust Collection
Every so often ghd launch a limited edition collection, maybe you remember the dreamy mermaid-esque Azores Collection from last year? Well, this summer, ghd have released the Wanderlust Collection. It features a tropical sky print filled with electric colours which remind me of palm leaves and carnival ribbons blowing in the breeze. So pretty!
And finally! My boyfriend scooped this up at the discount store B & M’s when he popped in recently to buy me storage boxes. He claims I have an issue with hoarding, so he’s trying to get me organised, which is something I hate to do. To brighten up the day, he bought me Twix Spread and Flip’s Chocolate Covered Pretzels. Holy smokes, it was totally worth giving up my day for, this stuff is amazing! It’s kind of chocolatey and caramel-y and it has tiny chunks of biscuit in. Twix’s are good and all, but this spread is better than any Twix bar I have ever had. My personal serving suggestion would be on generously spread on crumpets for breakfast, or eaten out of the jar with a spoon as needed.
So there we have it, my April Favourites! Comment below and let me know what you have been loving lately! I’m always so interested to hear what you all think!
