Backstage at LFW With Hellavagirl X Benefit Cosmetics
Anyone who knows me, will be able to tell you I get a little snap-happy at the best of times, but when I’m faced with amazing make-up, incredible models and out-of-this-world clothing… I go into overdrive. So please excuse my tardiness with this post, it took me a while to sift through the hundreds of photos I took! Hopefully it’s worth the wait!
The Last Dawn on Mars
A couple of weeks ago, I was invited backstage at London Fashion Week with Benefit Cosmetics (Benefit were the Official Brow Sponsors) to see them in action; Creating the make-up for the Hellavagirl show. The collection was themed around a post-apocalyptic world; Part fantasy, part fairytale, with dark undertones and a rock ‘n’ roll edge. The collection was titled, The Last Dawn on Mars. In short, it was cool AF.
I’ve met Lisa Potter-Dixon, Benefit UK’s Head Make Up Artist and Brow Exper, a few times now. She’s funny, feisty and bold, she’s never afraid to have fun and experiment, which is exactly what she was doing when I walked in the room. She was chatting away to the models and team, whilst applying oodles of glitter to a models head. Lisa explained how she wanted to give the girls a tough look, with almost a reverse smoky eye (look closely at the photos and you will see the lids are nude and darker above the socket) whilst using plenty of highlighter down the centre of the face to mirror the reflection of the moon. After make-up was complete, the models headed off to the runway so the team could check the looks under the bright lights. Once complete, they did final tough ups and the girls got dressed into their looks. The collection was amazing, the make-up complimented it perfectly and I got to see the whole thing from the front row… Lucky me!
A huge *thank you* to Benefit Cosmetics for inviting me backstage with them! I love you guys (and your amazing brows) so much, and your team are always so friendly and welcoming.
