Valentines: One For The Boys
With Valentines Day around the corner, it’s time to think about buying something for your man…. I consulted my boyfriend on this one and asked for his advice on what he thinks would make an awesome treat which say’s ‘I love you… enjoy!’
Penhaligon’s Sartorial Beard Oil
I got my boyfriend this Penhaligon’s Beard Oil for Christmas and he loves it so much I wanted to recommend it for Valentines day too. If your man rocks a beard, then he will love this beard oil, it has a subtle scent of their classic fragrance Sartorial and keeps his beard soft, nourished and comfortable. I can’t even explain how much he loves this beard oil!
Malin + Goetz Grooming Products
Malin + Goetz make some amazing grooming products, they always use natural ingredients are their products are hard working, modern and clean. I’m a big fan and so is my boyfriend, which is why I would recommend having a look at their website to see if any of their skincare, fragrances or hair products appeal to him. Personally I would recommend the Dark Rum fragrance (it’s smoky, dark and dirty, but also has a freshness to it with hints of bergamot and plum) Also, the hair pomade is great if your man has a good head of hair, the face scrub is brilliant and the shaving products are also a winner!
True Grace Scented Candles
There’s a misconception that it’s just us ladies who love scented candles, but actually my dad, brother and boyfriend all love to light a nice candle in the evening too. I’ve seen my boyfriend drop a pretty penny on a candle in the past and whenever I buy my dad candles for christmas, he always enjoys them in the winter months. My advice is always the same, stick to masculine packaging and woody and earthy scents, like Seashore and Fig by True Grace.
Rituals Shower Gel
A nice shower gel is always a great gift, especially if you don’t have a huge amount of cash to splash. It’s something he can use every day and perfect if you like to keep him away from your Soap & Glory and Snow Fairy. There are lots of great scents to choose between, but Samurai Yuzu Shower Foam is wonderfully fresh, zesty and uplifting! Also, if you are wanting to treat yourself to one at the same time, then I adore the Ritual of Sakura, which smells like creamy rice milk and sweet cherry blossom.
Whilst the ladies love jewellery and handbags, men tend to be lovers of watches and sunglasses. If you have booked a summer holiday (or even if you haven’t!) then a new pair of Ray-Ban Sunglasses could be a great V-day gift. It’s a reminder that summer is coming and until that time, they are perfect for keeping in the car and using when driving. There’s a frame shape for every face and style, so just head to the website and see what will suit him best!
Penhaligon’s Roaring Radcliff
The latest addition to the Penhaligon’s Portrait Collection is Roaring Radcliff, a fragrance inspired by a fantasy story of a illegitimate son of a lord and his mistress. He has no title, but a penchant for fast cars, beautiful women, travel and parties. His fragrance is sexy, rebellious and confident, filled with smoky tobacco, sweet gingerbread and warm, intoxicating rum. It’s gloriously warm, sweet and smoky, my boyfriend loves it and I love him wearing it. It’s a wonderfully indulgent gift!
As I write this post, I am freezing! Wearing a jumper in bed kinda-cold, and it’s showing now sign of getting warmer any time soon, in fact, it’s rumoured to get colder before it gets warmer. Treat your man to a beautiful wool scarf which he can cosy up in when he’s on an early commute to the city or coming home late from a dinner in town. Personally, I adore this Boden Cashmere scarf which is currently out of stock, but there is a beautiful Lambswool Scarf which is currently on sale. Thrifty and thoughtful!
If your man like a slightly fresher, more aquatic fragrance, then why not get him a brand new bottle of Versace Eros? It contains notes of Mint, Lemon, Apple, Tonka Bean, Geranium, Vanilla, Vetiver, Oak Moss and Cedarwood. It’s fresh, crisp and uplifting and woodsy on the dry down.
My boyfriend doesn’t have a huge amount of ties, but the ones has are beautiful and special. He has a handful of Gucci, Hackett and Chanel ones, but his favourite are always the Hermès Ties. They come in a beautiful array or colours and prints, the branding is subtle (but those who know, know) and the quality of the silk twill is impeccable. It’s a timeless gift and if your man is anything like mine, he will adore it!
This is such a boy gift, but if your man doesn’t have a Netflix (or amazon prime) subscription, then get him one. Alternatively, if you have one subscription which you share, upgrade the package so you can watch on more than one device. We used to share a subscription, but it was a bit of a nightmare when one of us travelled, now we can both use it on two devices each, which is perfect for when we travel and if he wants to watch something sports related on his laptop at night, I can wear headphones and watch something girly on my iPad. Brilliant!
Aspinal Of London Passport Holder
When I first met my boyfriend he had a bright blue passport holder with a carton aeroplane printed on it…. not chic! I treated him to an Aspinal of London Passport Holder a few years ago because we were going on holiday and I wanted him to travel in style. It comes out for every holiday and business trip and it still looks pretty fancy. It also works as a nice little hint that he should book a holiday for you both soon! #justsaying
So, there we have it, a handful of pretty sweet treats for your man this Valentines Day! Hope it was of help and tweet me to let me know if you took my advice!
